The toy reference seems very out of place to me at first.
Also, given the lack of other sapients (unless there are little ponies who don't appear here), I would imagine that "Princess" would mean whatever the sister's parents want it to mean, and thus I am not sure how it could be insulting. Certain the idea of a "pampered and delicate princess" doesn't fit at all when you don't have any servants to be pampered BY and clearly have enough trust to take one's baby sister off alone and not have mommy and daddy keeping track of you (or they would know she was meeting with Discord, which, lacking any evidence to the contrary, I have to assume is still forbidden).

I ran into that problem while writing it but I decided it was too minor a roadblock to completely veer away from.
I put it in the "How do ponies have working microphones and electricity in a medieval civilization" folder

Word of Faust is that anything that looks like it uses electricity was actually made by a unicorn (others of the show's writers may over-rule this now that she has departed).
I would peg them at closer to the American frontier era for manufactured technology (as opposed to permanent magical artifacts, which may or may not include mechanical parts).
As for their form of government, TO ME it is not so much primitive to me as what you get, as what you get as the empiracle result of testing the statement: "If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary."
They are literally ruled by one or two immortals who have more nobilis oblige (lit: noble obligation. The responsibility of a born ruler to their people/country) and accumulated wisdom than any three merely human rulers you would care to name. A simple form of government (especially at the higher levels) works just fine thank you very much.

I like where this story is going, but I feel like it's being rushed. Like one panel isn't really connecting to each other. The transition from page 10 to this one was weird. Please, don't see this as a flame. It's not. It's just the transition from one page to the other and also between panels that is confusing me.
