In case you hadn't figured it out, I generally comment on each image as I view it in order, without peeking ahead. This allows the author/artist to get a more detailed glimpse into their audience's mind, rather than just the final state. As an engineer, I know the value of such things.
Huh.... I BRIEFLY considered "sparing match" but rejected it... seems I wasn't as wise as one of the other posters on the previous page.
I also note that Celestia is a Blank-Flank. Which could explain why she glanced at her cutie-mark at the end of "Call of the Cutie" [link] despite the letter not mentioning cutie-marks per se (another possibility is that the full letter is longer than what we hear on-screen). If her Cutie-Mark(or more likely the sun itself) was what started the problems between her and Discord, but later was a major point of bonding with Luna, then that would make sense. It is also possible that it created a problem between her and her PARENTS, and Discord took advantage of that to make a power-play. He could have tempted Celestia in trying to "defeat" her parents so she could show them that her ideas really would work (just as Luna may have tried to do with the whole "Night Eternal" thing). When Discord killed her parents, rather than merely subduing them, that is when Celestia fled with her infant sister...

I like to think (though I'm sure every artist flatters themselves like this) That I considered a lot of sources before attacking a huge subject like this. Originally Celestia's story of her cutie mark was a sadder one, but after consulting "call of the cutie" I decided if she could look back on it nostalgically it would be a happier event in her life, so I changed it.
Another thing I ran into (good golly I hope you're not giving these away to other viewers) was how Discord was defeated. I wanted it to be just Celestia, and make it a more personal battle, but since Luna was mentioned to have also been connected to the Elements, I included her. The only problem was, I had to find a creative way (or at least one that was different enough from how they were used in Episode 1) to use the Elements to defeat him, because if they used the same technique twice, Nightmare Moon would have recognized she was being overcome and would have put a stop to it.

Actually, I have my own head-canon for why she knew EXACTLY what was happening, and STILL got so brain-locked that she just stood there and took it. You see, the corrupting influence had her personal morality messed up JUST enough that she was willing to do ANYTHING to achieve victory... anything NECESSARY. But only what was necessary and she wanted everyone to "LOVE ME!" (as Psychoshy would say). What the corrupting influence didn't know about before setting up its corruption and was utterly incapable of adjusting for once it had her in its clutches was that she was precognitive to a small extent (better than Pinkie Pie, and without any socially embarrassing twitches). This combined with the fact that she was SMART, meant that she was always seeking out the result that would make her happiest in the long term. She was avoiding a hollow victory. But she never asked her precog what the result WAS (because that would have been a waste of magic). She could have blasted the Mane Six at any time with her magic, but she kept getting results for "best course of action for personal happiness over the next three months, and BTW no magical mind-control on me" that lead to the eigen-plot of season one episode two. She recognized that she was feeding into them demonstrating their elements, but thought she was setting them up to where she could break their spirit afterwards with how close they came to defeating her. If the corrupting force has been physical it would have been tearing its hair out by the roots while jumping up and down and swearing like a sailor. Celestia's IMMEDIATELY offering Luna her old job back was more than just the sort of forgiveness you would expect from a ruler who embodies the Elements it was also a masterstroke of strategy.

I was hoping that too. I knew he would have to be defeated in part 2, but I was sad all the same. He was a very unique and fun character, not just a cookie-cutter evil twisted scientist. He was a full blown TROLL.

This is so dramatic! You must make this a series! Or make something close to it. Celestia is immortal, and so is Discrd, you got a lot of time before they fight it off.
