DescriptionOnce again protesting that you can't use ! in descriptions. I noticed a couple other images like this that describe the history of a Fursona. I remember everyone "omg you're changing shin again" so I decided it'd be cool to see a timeline of his changes. I didn't include concept sketches, I really just wanted to include the OFFICIAL reference sheet updates for him.Related content

Quite a good read, I loved reading 's too...Probably one of my favorite "Memes" to look at, especially when artists of your caliber present them...

You know I never used to understand why you changed Shin's ref so much. Everytime you updated I always missed the old one, but it makes sense now, and I am glad you did. This new one combines the best of all of them and I have to say how amazing he is. It makes me think more about my characters, I never change there designs dramatically even though I am never satisfied with them. I know I never comment on your art, I am a silent watcher really XD But your art is an inspiration and even now your art is getting better and better.

This might not make sense but up until the December 09, it looked like Shinerai was growing older. Like every year his markings faded and he grew more majestic. But you're right, he didn't really fit the "thief" build

Hahah, wow. The first Shinerai design is so busy, really. (also the wingfeathers had me fooled, too)
Personally I like the February 08 version the best, because I really like soft and more natural colors.
I really like the lates Shin almost as much though. The reds go along so well and he's got a little more uh, believeable body structure (those short forelegs were so short haha. While I don't doubt it would work and while it was unique, I thought it looked somewhat weird XD)
Also I think with these backlegs he could leap like nobody else
I thought about doing some time lineup for Riku too, though she really didn't change much at all over the years.

it looks like with every reference sheet he changes older and more mature. And the last one turns young again! But I really like the last one: it's not too complicated and it has a nice twist of colors and markings. Thank you for making it, it was fun to go it through

Shin is BEAUTIFUL now. I love him :3 I love his colours, his subtle changes, everything! His occupation as thief is much more believable now.

I prefer the legs on him now because of the longer, 'boney' look them. It's more original. I would talk about the details but you were always crazy with that...so, I'm not sure it applies.
BUT, I really like your style now, by the way. I just thought I would comment because I never do..but I honestly still look every time.
It's really impressive to think I knew you at the beginning when you drew with. Now, just thinking of the picture with Takki makes me realize how far you've come and how much better you are and I love it.

Wow, I think it's not until someone puts something like this together that you realise how much people develop there styles over time, even in short a couple of months. It's really quite fascinating.
The Feb 06 Shin is kind of cute in his own little way, but there is a massive jump of improvement from Feb to August. But I think I like the Dec 09 Shin. His colours are so vibrant, orangey/red and nice~

Whoa, it's interesting how much you have changed this character over time. Yet, every incarnation keeps the feeling. Nice compilation.

It's so neat to see how Shin has developed over the years. I made one of these for Zharcaor and another character last year, but neither of them have changed as much as Shin.
Oh, and a quick question, does that weird Shin (was it grass elemetal? I don't remember...) still apply? I'm guessing that you didn't include it here because it was an alternate form and not an actual Shin revamp.

I love seeing these character progress things! It's amazing how much OCs seem to change over time... one of mine looks way different than the original. xD But I like it better now so... yeah.
But still, I love the revamped!Shin. He looks elegant in his own way, probably his posture. And the colors are so nice to look at. <3

I've never really had the chance to comment on your work, but I've followed you for some time now and I must say, you are one of the most creative artists I have ever encountered. And this is a huge display of your talent! I love your character and the intricate designs, colors, poses and anatomy. I absolutely adore your dragons and can't wait to see future art from you! I definitely like his newest look, I'm glad you went back to the brown/cream natural-looking colors rather than those confusing purple-yellows @__@
I did like his cream-colored foot fur though, and the white tips to his head crest feathers. Also, his now white wormy tail kinda bothers me XD I liked the stripes going to the end. All in all, he's your character and you can do what you want with him, he'll be gorgeous no matter what C:

The markings throughout his design are really cool. I think the best change in the latest version is probably that the tail is big, but not as insane as the previous design had it.
I forget though, does he still have wings? You just omitted them for the reference right? I kinda like him without wings, but I'm always changing between with or without wings myself. %B
