Description No idea who this is... she's not based on anyone, I was just in the mood to draw a pretty woman in a pond.

I know you've already gotten a billion comments like mine, but I just had to say that I love that she's not built like the women on magazine covers. She's natural and realistic and I think she's absolutely lovely. It's so refreshing to see a tasteful, realistic nude. It's not slutty. It's not trying to show off. It just IS, and I love everything about it, tattoos and all

Gorgeous. Not sure I can add much to what everyone else is saying, but I love the simplicity of this and the woman is very lovely. I love how much character and uniqueness you've managed to give her considering she wasn't supposed to be based on anyone. ♥

poor woman just taking a skinny dip and pow some one captures her essence when she's vulnerable.

love the tatoo design.
love the natural type anatomy around the waist line.
shape of the skull feels odd cant put my finger on it.

nice coloring a mix between cell and soft shading on a mostly flat color image.
I'm totally jealous of your view count by the way. 2,951 dang.

I absolutely love it. It's tasteful and real. It's hard these days to see a nude drawing that isn't of a woman with a 32" waist and double Ds in a very suggestive pose. It looks so natural and sweet.

I like that your "pretty" woman has curves and folds. A real woman whom I do find pretty, even more so for not being one of those creepy sticks the american fashion industry wants us to aspire to.
thank you

BoopAbelle In reply to storm-rao [2011-09-21 00:50:07 +0000 UTC]

This is completely unrelated to the art, but while I certainly agree that the media in general promotes a completely unrealistic standard of beauty, I'd just like to point out that those "creepy stick" people are just as human as women with curvier figures. Hating on any body type, regardless of whichever side of the thin/fat spectrum they fall on, just hurts everyone in the long run.

storm-rao In reply to BoopAbelle [2011-09-21 04:13:39 +0000 UTC]

ahh, there's been a misunderstanding.
I don't hate these women. I hate that the industry that surrounds them has tried to promote their body type as the ideal, even though there are many women who this is not only not a possibility, but would be downright dangerous to try achieve.
They do scare me a little, but that's mostly because I look at them and think "my god, are you alive? Are you eating enough?"

I like this art piece because there is a different standard of beauty that I personally enjoy.

evilgoober In reply to storm-rao [2011-09-20 21:02:51 +0000 UTC]

Oh, you may want to check your facts on that one- just pointing out that the american fashion industry, among the global fashion industry as a whole, is very much aimed towards a curvier buyer. European or Asian fashion tends to be aimed towards women with slender, petite figures. Most cultures, actually, are moving towards a realistic consumer.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

storm-rao In reply to evilgoober [2011-09-20 21:12:51 +0000 UTC]

it's a slow change. I still know my body type is far from "Ideal".

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

evilgoober In reply to storm-rao [2011-09-22 03:52:38 +0000 UTC]

Yes it is, but at least its a change. I just found it odd how you sort of singled out a nation that actually pays very little attention towards the stick thin models. And I do understand how you feel- speaking as an asymmetrical, healthy-but-chunky weight, woman with a severe case of scoliosis, my body type isn't even a type, let alone an ideal one.

storm-rao In reply to evilgoober [2011-09-22 12:30:01 +0000 UTC]

Good point, I'll keep that in mind. Thank you *hug*
I say American mostly because NZ seems to get very little of the european view. I know America's Top Model played here, and things like it, but nothing European that I know of.

I'm ashamed to say this, but I must admit that when I first saw the image I thought "What? Pretty??"

Let's face it, lots of people expect female drawings on DA, or any other site, to be ideal. Hell, 'realistic' often means simply having an A-cup. Perfect complection and a slim figure still remain.

She is a pretty woman and this is a nice drawing. But I just have to be honest, I just can't get over her imperfections. Besides, even if she was idealized, I've never been big into tattoos and piercings.

I would disagree. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trolling or flaming or anything. But there are a lot of women out there who have large breasts. I'm a 42DDD. The thing is though, that the bigger the breast, the more the tendency to sag. And it's nice to see it being represented in a beautiful way. There are a lot of women who are constantly uncomfortable with their breasts and bodies because of comments like this. Every woman has imperfections. Just because we aren't airbrushed doesn't mean we aren't beautiful.

You can't disagree on someone's opinion. Its their opinion. You can say; I have a different opinion, but you can't disagree on theirs.

Celechan In reply to MagnetFox [2011-09-20 16:47:37 +0000 UTC]

I think you're confusing disagreeing and saying that someone's wrong? To disagree simply means to differ - You can have a different opinion than someone else. Saying "I disagree" and "I have a different opinion" are synonymous. Saying that someone's opinion is wrong, on the other hand, is different, and what I think you were going for

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone.

I've been watching Shinga for years now and I felt that she deserved an honest comment from me. That's what I wanted to do, be truthful, not hurt anyone's feelings. And certainly not leave something banal like "OH SHE'S SO LOVELY!!!"
