Description FURRIES lol

Just kidding, they're scalies. Three sceloporus; S. consobrinus, S. undulatus and S. woodi, being all old timey. I was thinking Lackadaisy Lizards the entire time I was painting this. Which, incidentally, was 2.5 hours, because I am going crazy trying to finish all my work...

Despite deadlines, I decided to do this anyways cuz its for my (doctor!!!) friend Adam, who has a paper coming out soon Its called "Population Sampling Impacts on Multilocus Species Tree Inference: Discordant Traces to Mitochondrial DNA Clade Boundaries in North American Fence Lizards (Sceloporus undulatus Species Group)." I read through it and understood about 50% of it, haha. Suffice to say its about sorting out different types of lizards using genetic analyses. But yeah, he's awesome and deserves dated lizards.

Also I think I need more art in my gallery that isn't mature T__T Everything has had boobs in it lately.

I looove post lizards I like trying to catch as many of the gorgeous males as I can, but it's hard when you're trying to chase them around a pine tree surrounded with thorn bushes. And then they bite me later :C
I love the picture. They all look stately and ready for business. Since my childhood, I've imagined herps like spadefoot toads to be sporting bowler hats and Anoles to be dressed like traveling salesmen, and you've captured it perfectly.
I do hope your friend loves it

Haha, thanks so much! I love catching them too, I've gotten to the point where I can entice them with my fingers and they'll come up to me. But of course I have my trusty noose with me as well (an old telescoping TV antenna and some spider wire :3 ). I love catching herps so much.

The front leg gesture of the middle fellow is very lizardy. I like to see he hasn't left the whole of the animal world behind him.

Hehe, thanks. I like that about these lizards, they always look like they're buff guys when you hold them (after all, they do push ups all the time!)

One does not simply get over a lizard obsession XD I went to school and studied lizard phylogeny for a few years. At the moment I just herp recreationally (and of course own a few reptiley friends!)

I want to have an iguana, too bad I don't have enough space to have it. I'm just waiting until I move

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

shingworks In reply to zwartekat [2009-04-04 14:30:27 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, well watch out for iguanas.. they don't make the nicest pets! They can be violent when they're older. We had one that was a bit younger but he was still very unmanageable. For a nice pet you can get to know and hold things like leopard;/ fattailed geckoes and corn/king snakes are quite nice! You can actually play with them and hold them.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

zwartekat In reply to shingworks [2009-04-05 17:10:25 +0000 UTC]

Awww do they need special care? is it expensive to have one?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

shingworks In reply to zwartekat [2009-04-05 17:12:59 +0000 UTC]

More like they are just not very good pets :C If you like to interact and play with your pets, iguanas aren't really a good choice. And when they get older they can be quite violent due to territorialism... I saw a video where an iguana sliced some lady's leg open with his tail D: I dunno, if you are really into iguanas then by all means go ahead XD But in general I think there are more accessible pets out there.
