Description
This is the promotional image for "Dream" chapter 2, "A New Heading."Took a long time to get the pool table and angles, but it's finally done! I'm fairly pleased with the way it turned out, but I still need to learn more about lighting and stuff.
It's a group pic of my four main oc's, Hiro, Shinrei, Shin Hwa and Shunsuke.
Everyone's chillin' except Shinrei, who is at the moment breaking up a bar fight. Or starting one. Either way.

What sort of animal is that on the wall? It's got a very interesting skull. And that's a reeeaaally long sword. It looks longer than Hiro is tall. Snakes and boars on the pool table, too! =3
Shin Hwa's expression is bothering me a bit for some reason. Full lips can be tough. I think the upper lip can be left a bit thinner. You can also subdue it a bit by making the shape fuller at the center and a lot thinner at the corners for the bottom lip, as well.
It's also good to see everyone's wardrobes changing every so often. Pretty realistic.

Of course it does! 
It's another species of B-class demon. They were hunted to almost extinction many years ago. The sword is the Odachi of the person who slew it. I've seen Odachi over 14 feet long in real life, so it's not too long for the type of weapon. And yes, snakes and boars and billiards oh my!
Yeah, me too. It's one of those things where I didn't notice it was bad until after I inked it, and then I was like....fuck.
lol I have problems drawing certain features of anatomy (lips, hips, legs, feet) and need to work on them more for sure.
I change their clothing for several reasons: 1, it's -as you said- more realistic, 2, it's very boring drawing the same clothing over and over, and 3, I actually like designing it. It's almost like I can design a new character every time I draw new clothing, since the body looks different with each type of shape and fabric material.

My cast is a little large, so I am going to only list the ones I will use.
I have a guy who is more stoic - a little apathetic - towards things going on around him, unless it really involves him. Plus he is already known for being a ridiculously powerful fighter, so most people don't get involved with him.
Another guy is happy-go-lucky but he's also really good at lots of things (except maybe fighting?). I think I would have him at the pool table.
I have a chick who's pretty much all about fighting and stuff (she is a bounty hunter.). So I can see her fighting in the background.
Then the last person would probably be her sidekick, some friendly girl who is a flirt.
At any rate, that is it. I will put all the characters I have up later. Once I have my two Manga ideas set in stone. Really rough trying to get the story going though, I suck at starting stories....

It's good to have a lot of character diversity. I've been focusing on my main characters for a while, to develop them as best I can and get the main storyline figured out, but soon I'll be uploading more of the other characters' stuff.

I agree with you in that the stories are very difficult. I find that the most challenging parts are the beginning and end (of course) and trying not to let plot holes and inconsistencies develop.

Plot holes....I cant run into them any more. Have you ever heard of the chekhov's rules?

Inconsistencies....I'm not too sure on what is meant there, but sure.
Well, what I do know, is that I want a balanced cast. For starters, the story I'm working on the most right now, has no set protagonist or main character, in that the entire cast together is going to change the world and ultimately prevent it's demise. So everyone has to be balanced out. While one guy might not be super fast, strong, or skilled, he will be incredibly smart and outsmart his opponents, even while they are beating him into a corner.
Also, because the cast is so large and friendly, they will be doing lots of tag team fights against much stronger opponents, since two high powered guys fighting a very powerful experimental weapon would balance out right?

I've been careful, and have been working on the story for over a decade, so I'm fairly certain I don't have any, but when I want to change things a bit it's always a danger. 
Yes, but the rules are not as easy to follow, especially the second and fifth; the second because it is impossible to be objective, when we are all individuals, and the fifth, because it is very difficult to come up with something that no one else has -of course one can always do old things in new ways.
Unfortunately, following these rules has no bearing on whether or not plot holes are developed; plot holes are simply a result of being careless, and there is no rule that will make one any more careful as a person -just focus.
By inconsistencies I just mean issues where things appear earlier in a story, and then either inexplicable change or disappear later on. These are also the results of carelessness.
Balance is definitely important, but it is variable as well. Balance can be attained in a wide variety of ways, even if one has a traditional story with one main character. Usually it would be obtained simply in the story dynamics, with the protagonist facing an antagonist, whether it be him/herself, some force of nature or fate, or another being. If you're going for a "team"-type manga, where a group of people faces some challenge or a number of conflicts, the type of balance you described is very good.

Yeah. Also challenging to find that approach that works. I had some crazy fights in mind, but they seemed too over the top. As in Dragon Ball Z over the top. That's always a bad one for me, since I hate it when a fight turns into all laser beams and explosions. DBZ still has it's fair amount of martial arts, don't get me wrong, but the thing that dissappointed me the most is when they just shoot lasers for five to fifteen minutes, it's almost always pointless since both sides can apparently dodge, block, or even deflect said lasers.
I could send you a note or something about the basic start up storyline I have for pulling the cast together. See what you think, I just need to sort out my thoughts a bit more first. I mean if you are fine with it and have the time.

Agreed. All my fights except for one are strictly martial arts based. I enjoyed watching DBZ, but it's not my cup o' tea as far as my own story goes. We all know how every fight ends anyway -they shoot lasers at each other until the main character shoots one that's too big to dodge/ block, and then it engulfs the bad guy. lol
I don't mind if you want me to take a look -you could also post a small part of it and see what others think too.
