Me too! I've just been watching the sneak peeks over and over again to hold me over until the actual movie comes out. Have you seen these scenes from the movie yet? Katniss meets Cinna: [link] Katniss and the fireballs: [link]

Oh god me too! XD I was so excited to see the Katniss-Cinna scene today it made my day and my tomorrow
There's also the clip that Katniss shoots the apple from the pig's mouth, I LOVED that scene [link]

Yes, I like how they don't seem to be overacting the scenes, like with her shooting the apple from the pig's mouth, she just gives a small shake of her head at the gamemakers. The movie looks promising so far. I've noticed a few changes here and there (like Madge, the girl who gave her the mockingjay pin, isn't going to be in the movie) but otherwise, it looks like it follows the book fairly well. Can't wait!

Yeah I was a little bit disappointed with that as well but since Collins is one of the screenwriters I believe she won't cut out the important parts or mess up the details that matter Besides they can't fit everything in the movies sadly (which will be 4 if the beginning is successful or at least that's what I've heard). I completely agree with you it looks very promising so far, can't wait :3

Yes, thank goodness she's one of the screenwriters! I know that the second movie is already scheduled to come out on November 22, 2013 and at the Q & A during the movie tour here in L.A., they confirmed that the original cast would be in all three movies. I'm so excited!

Yeah I've read that as well but for more movies to come out this needs to be a success so hopefully it will
Very excited here as well! I'm reading the first book again now to remember all the details better XD

Oh, I'm sure it will be. It's been mass chaos here in L.A. first because of the cast appearances during the mall tour and then today because of the world premier. I've also been watching their mall tours in other states and they're equally overflowing with crazed fans. I think that with such a large already established fan base, they'd be crazier not to continue on with the other two books.
I've been rereading the series too. I'm almost finished rereading the last book and I'm trying to decide if I should reread the series again once I'm finished with it. We'll see. My obsession is at its peak right now, so might as well continue feeding it. More fire to the flame.

That's so awesome! I happen to live in Greece sadly so no crazy fans here, the books are barely known. But they'll definitely be more popular after the movie is released
Haha go for it! I'm still on the first lol. I'm editing a music vid with THG right now, I'm so happy cause I haven't had inspiration to edit in so loooong And I really wanted to make a video before the movie comes out.
Speaking of videos I don't know if you've seen this fanmade video already but its the most epic fanmade thing I've ever seen, I believe you'll enjoy it Its about the second Quarter Quell.

That's so cool that you live in Greece. I can only dream about visiting there. I especially want to see Santorini because I've seen calenders of the white buildings hanging off the cliffs and it just looks so beautiful!
Yes, they will be! Then they'll be hurrying to catch and by the time the other movies are made, they'll be in with the craze. Aren't you glad you're one of the first people ahead of the game?
That's awesome! When you're finished, please send me a link. I would love to see a Hunger Games music vid.
Thank you for the link. I had seen it already, but it was very kind and thoughtful of you. They're very well made and the one they made of Rue's death actually made me cry. It will be interesting to see how these scenes play out in the movies themselves.
Thanks for fangirling with me. It's fun talking about something that someone else is equally obsessed with.

Haha yes lots of islands are like that, its quite beautiful I don't live in an island but I was born in one so I visit it every summer, it's called Rhodes, awesome place for vacation
And yes I am pretty glad about that XD I'm trying to tell everyone I know to read the books right now!
Awesome! I'll send it to you when its done, I've done about half of it so far.
You're welcome, thought you might have seen it already since you're just as obsessed as me XD. Oh yes they were so professionally made, I loved them and the Finnick and Annie series was amazing as well
Haha same here I really enjoy talking about THG :3 So thanks as well and sorry for spamming your deviation with my huge comments XD.

ShipperTrish In reply to PhotonLights [2012-03-15 02:11:34 +0000 UTC]
I had to Google Rhodes, Greece, but yes, it looks beautiful! You're very fortunate to have been born there. We just don't have places that look like that on this side of the world. Over there, things look like they came straight out of a fairy tale book, and they're real, not like our fiberglass Sleeping Beauty castle in Disneyland.
I've tried to do the same, but some people are very resistant. They just don't like the whole "kids forced to kill each other" bit and it's like "It's not about that! If anything, it's a commentary against that!" But nope, there's still the response of "Sorry, not my cup of tea." Meanwhile, I'm like "Fine. Be that way. It's not going to stop me from my own obsession!"
Great! I look forward to seeing it!
Yes, they are, and I thought the writer for the Finnick and Annie web series was brilliant. She filled in all the gaps with believable story lines, like Annie being picked for the Hunger Games because Finnick didn't want to leave her to go to the Capitol to sell his body yet again. I think my favorite part of the series is when Finnick keeps saying "Hey, Annie" over and over again, and it's only towards the end that Annie finally responds with "Hey, Finnick." It was so simple and yet that small exchange spoke volumes. Like I said, I love the writer for that web series!
Don't worry about it! Sorry for spamming your page with my huge comments as well. I guess it's just such a relief to be able to talk about something I'm crazy about with someone who feels the same way.

Yes very true espeacially the beaches, they're just magical
And I'm sure its pretty over there too all countries have beautiful places, some more than others but all of them do ^^.
Aaah I know! But usually I manage to convince people by telling them that the hunger games are just a part of the books and it has a much greater meaning. Lots of people compare it to Battle Royal which I have not read but it definitely has nothing to do with THG except that its has kids who are forced to kill each other. But it has no meaning really, while THG makes you think.
YES! This was my fav moment, so simple but so awesome, just her saying that and it made me smile, their writer is really good indeed
Oh good I'm glad you don't mind my spamming haha Yup I agree I don't think I've talked with anyone else so much about THG
Feels great! Oh and btw did you know there was a scene of Peeta's interview out? I discovered it yesterday night just before I went to sleep and it was so hard to sleep after fangirling about that scene XD.

Yes, there are pretty places here too, but just pockets of it, not all around. Like I love nature, but because of my work, I have to live in the city, so I have to drive out a ways if I want to be with nature.
That's a good way of putting it. I'll use that line the next time I'm trying to convince someone to read the books.
No, I haven't seen Peeta's interview. Can you give me the link? I'm excited to see it!
Have you seen the clip of President Snow talking to head gamemaker Seneca Crane? It's all new conversation that was never in the books. Here's the link:

Yes, it definitely feels good to spill out my obsession with someone else. Plus, between the two of us we're finding out about vids that we might not have otherwise known about!

Yeah I know what you mean I live in the capital of Greece so not much nature here either.
Haha great
Yes here you go! [link]
Its an awesome scene in my opinion! There was only one thing that bothered me but watch it first I'm not gonna spoil it for you.
And omygosh I had not seen it! It was awesome! I can totally see that being in the book Now I have much higher hopes that the movie will be awesome!
Speaking of, this is what the movie could have been like [link]
After watching this there's no way you'll feel bad about the movie if they mess up some parts, at least it won't be as bad as this XD
Yup very true! If you wanna watch some parody vids tell me, I've found some pretty awesome ones (I love parodies) ^^.

Oh, I guess you didn't see what I wrote earlier, but again, thank you for the link. Here, I'll copy and paste my initial reaction:
I just found that Peeta interview vid you were talking about! I love it! Josh plays it out perfectly! The only thing I'm disappointed about is that it looks like Katniss and Haymitch are backstage when Peeta confesses his love for her. I was hoping that they would have kept it like in the books where she's still sitting on stage and everyone can see her reaction with her mouth half open. Otherwise, I love it!
Have you seen this latest clip released today? It has the countdown to the Games and a few scenes that haven't been shown before, like more of the Capitol and the parade of chariots: [link]
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
PhotonLights In reply to ShipperTrish [2012-03-17 10:53:33 +0000 UTC]
Oh sorry I didn't see it XD
Yes thats the only thing I didn't like and also Katniss doesn't seem to react AT ALL. I mean it says in the book that it takes her a moment to realize he's talking about her but that was too long. It looked like she knew he was gonna say that, like they had it planned all along, I wouldn't like it if they did that :/ The interviews and chariot scenes are the ones I look forward to the most and I wanted them to stay the same as much as possible..
And nope I had not seen it, it was awesome! Thanks for the link
The parade of the chariots I had seen it already but it had some new capitol scenes and my fav was the crowd with Caesar Flickerman, it looked epic :3 Gosh its only 4 days now and it comes out! I can't believe it *_* It comes out on the 21st here, not sure why but I'm very happy about that!

ShipperTrish In reply to PhotonLights [2012-03-17 14:33:43 +0000 UTC]
No worries.
I feel the same way. The whole point of her shocked reaction and the audience seeing it is so that everyone knows that what Peeta said isn't just an act. The way they did it in the movie makes it look like it was.
I'm looking forward to the cave scene. I hope nothing was changed for that, and even if some things are, they better be to enhance the scene, not take away from it!
You're welcome. Yes, I didn't expect the crowd to be that big. In the book it sounds like a regular audience for a live TV show with everyone filling one big room, but in the movie it looks more like an endless stadium.
You're so lucky that you get to see it 2 days ahead of us! It is strange that other countries get to see it before us. Normally it's the other way around since most of the movies are made here, but maybe (like you were saying) THG is less known in other countries and maybe by doing it this way it will be known about sooner. Who knows? Either way, I can't wait! I'm already planning to be one of those diehard fans who dresses up for the movie. I'm not cosplaying completely, but I do have the mockingjay pin and I even bought gold eyeliner in honor of Cinna. It's geeky enough so that other HG fans will know I'm dressed up for the movie, but not so over the top that people who don't know about THG will be too shocked by me, lol! Are you planning to dress up in any way for the movie?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
PhotonLights In reply to ShipperTrish [2012-03-18 11:52:14 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I just wish they did not plan it before cause that would really take much of the intensity away..even if we know what happens XD
I believe the cave scene will be good cause everyone is looking forward to it the most Not me but everyone else XD.
Well I always imagined the interview crowd to be huge so I really liked that
And yeah that's probably why, like you said usually it's the other way around haha
And that's totally awesome! Sounds perfect
Naah I never dress up although I'd like to. Maybe I could braid my hair or something but that's it XD My mom would be like ''what are you doing? o.o'' haha.

ShipperTrish In reply to PhotonLights [2012-03-18 13:36:09 +0000 UTC]
I think braiding your hair would be enough. Again, it's subtle enough that people who don't know about THG won't look at you weird, but clandestine enough that people who do know about THG will recognize it. I would do the same thing, but my hair isn't quite long enough.
So envious that you get to see the movie sooner. Let me know what you think.

PhotonLights In reply to ShipperTrish [2012-03-19 10:29:52 +0000 UTC]
Yup I tried to do it yesterday and I was quite happy except for the fact that it was kinda short but I looked at a Katniss wallpaper and her braid is the same length as mine o.o
I had not realized her hair wasn't that long, so my braid was perfect after all XD I used to have REALLY long hair and now that I don't it seems short to me even though its not really short ^^
*sigh* Not as soon as I thought They changed the release date from 21 to 22 today. I was so pissed! I know its just a day later but it bothered me..
And sure dear I will. I've heard its awesome so far from people who were at the premiere so I'm hopeful I will think the same

That's good to hear. Well, I know just from watching the trailers and cast interviews that there are some things that got changed or cut that I'm going to miss, so I'm already preparing myself for that. Glad to hear that you liked it overall though. I won't see the movie until Saturday afternoon, so you might have to wait a bit for what I think.
You're welcome! It was really well made and I enjoyed it. I look forward to seeing more once you get the DVD. I'm looking forward to getting the DVD myself. Then I can just watch the movie over and over again the same way I've been listening to the books (I have the audio books as well as the books themselves. My boyfriend got me the audio books first, but when I realized how much I love the story, I bought the books themselves so that I could reference back to them for my fanfics).
Have you listened or bought the soundtrack? I downloaded just a couple of songs that I liked and one particular song, "Just a Game" by Birdy, I've listened to 40 times already according to my iTunes counter, and I only bought it a couple of nights ago! It references specific moments in the books and the tune is very soft, slow, and romantic, which is why I love it. I think that once I get the DVDs I'm going to have to learn to make music vids myself so I can specifically make one for this song, unless someone else beats me to it, which I wouldn't mind either. It would at least save me the trouble.
Anyway, have a good weekend! So what are you going to do now that you've already seen the movie? Did you braid your hair like Katniss, by the way, when you went to watch it?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
PhotonLights In reply to ShipperTrish [2012-03-24 21:23:37 +0000 UTC]
Yup exactly Can't wait to hear what you think!
Oh yes same here Although it will be a while till I get the DVD I'll definitely download it first I bet it will be out in a couple of weeks if not earlier. I wanna watch it again already I miss it so much XD Also the music was GREAT! When I saw James Newton Howard was the composer I was soooo happy cause I love his soundtracks he's an amazing artist and he did a great job on this soundtrack, can't wait to get it!
Wow thanks for the recommendation I had not heard that song and it was really beautiful! Such a peaceful melody I had heard another song from the soundtrack but I don't remember what it was called I didn't like it at all, it was too happy for THG, but a really great song from it is Abraham's daughter by Arcade Fire which I heard about a week ago and its the song that plays in the credits. Great song it has kind of a dark theme and I thought it was the only 1 I had heard so far that really fitted the games. Oh yes video editing is a great hobby I highly encourage you to get into it
Thanks have a great weekend yourself! Now that I've seen the movie...I just wanna watch it again! XD Sadly not much time to fangirl I got my exams starting in a week or so but I think I'll start drawing some THG fanart after that
I wanna get good enough to draw Katniss's interview dress one day. The bad thing is that I don't have a wacom tablet and can only draw with mouse in photoshop. I still do pretty well but that dress will be a huge challenge with mouse only.
And yes I did! I was checking the audience to see if anyone else had braided their hair and I noticed 1 other girl who did when I was walking out of the room People don't dress up for premieres here but I had a feeling this wasn't a coincidence, she did that for the movie just like I did
The audience was one of the best I had ever been with they were very silent and paying attention, usually people are nuts in the premieres. Makes sense cause almost everyone was foreign XD Greeks are crazaaay lol.
Also I just remembered a great song about THG is Girl on Fire by Arshad you should hear it, its not on the soundtrack or anything but it real good
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ShipperTrish In reply to PhotonLights [2012-03-25 06:21:50 +0000 UTC]
Yes, James Newton Howard did a great job with the score. I wish the soundtrack had two discs, a track A for all the songs inspired by the movie and a track B being the actual score used in the film.
You're welcome. I was hoping they would at least play it during the end credits, but unfortunately they didn't.
Yes! "Abraham's Daughter" by Arcade Fire is the other song I downloaded from the soundtrack. I'm partial to it, too, because during the movie's world premiere here in Los Angeles, they were playing that song on loop, so I already had a special memory attached to it.
We'll see. Technology isn't exactly my best friend. If I can have my boyfriend teach me how to edit and I don't get easily frustrated the way I normally do, then I just may pick it up as a hobby...or just leave it the people who know what they're doing and sit back and enjoy their work instead.
Best of luck with your exams! Interestingly enough, a lot of people here on deviant claim that creativity strikes them right around exam time. It's probably all the stress. The mind just automatically wants to find an escape.
I look forward to seeing your drawing! I agree, drawing with just a mouse is difficult, although I haven't had that much luck with a Wacom tablet either because when you draw a curve or something, it doesn't come out exactly the way you want it to. Just try tracing another drawing. For some reason where you want to go and where the lines end up don't match up. If you had a touch screen monitor, however, that's different. That's the only way I was able to manage the tablet...because I was drawing directly on the screen instead of drawing on the tablet and hoping my lines would go where I wanted them to.
That's great! I'm so glad you braided your hair because I did too! It's fun, isn't it, subtly, but not so subtly supporting a character in the film? It was harder for me to braid my hair because, like I said, my hair isn't quite long enough, but I managed by basically doing 4 different braids that met up to make one long braid. It was the only way to keep the shorter strands from falling out. In the theater I went to, I was surprisingly the only one who did the braid, but it was actually a good thing because I fit Katniss' description anyway...dark hair, olive skin, I'm a bit on the smallish side like her too. So with the braid and the mockingjay pin on my jacket I was turning heads, which made me happy! Even my boyfriend, who didn't know I was planning to do my hair that way, said "Well hello, Katniss!" when I met him at the theater.
Yes! Thank goodness for respectful audiences! There was a group of overexcited girls in front of us to the right that we were worried about because during the previews they were already screaming and clapping and being very loud, but once the movie started, they were very silent and only screamed or laughed during the appropriate times. If anything, they added to the experience of watching the movie, not take away from it.
Thank you for telling me about that song. I hadn't heard it before. I like how it references directly to the books.
So here's what I thought about the movie:
I love the look of most everything...District 12, the Capitol, and the costumes. The flame capes and flaming interview dress looked too computer graphic to me though. Besides, in the first book, the interview dress doesn't go up in flames. It only has the illusion of fire.
I actually felt sorry for Seneca Crane. In the book he sounds heartless and I thought he deserved to die, but in the movie it's more like he's President Snow's puppet and he got punished for just obediently doing what he was told.
The acting was great. I love the scene between Cinna and Katniss and you can just see her trembling. I remember watching that scene in that behind-the-scenes link I gave you, but because it was all close ups in the movie, you can actually see her shaking. I loved that! Everyone played their characters perfectly, but I think Effie and Caesar were the ones who were most spot on.
What I was disappointed about were the cuts, especially the parts that go into why certain characters bonded. In the movie, they showed the flashback of Peeta throwing Katniss the bread like what, two times, maybe more? And yet they cut out the part where she was digging through their trash out of sheer desperation. The way they did it in the movie it was like "Oh, okay. So he threw her some bread he was throwing away anyway" instead of "He threw her the bread to save her life!"
And Katniss was far too quick to jump on board with the romance bit. The whole point of her romance with Peeta is that she takes a lot of convincing and Peeta basically has to prove himself to her. In the movie, Peeta starts right off with the "I loved you when I saw you sing when we were 5." There was supposed to be a lot of hesitancy on Katniss' part before that. There was a little bit of it before the cave scene, but not enough. It made it look like she was easy to win over, which she wasn't.
And Rue. They cut out the part where Rue sees Katniss' mockingjay and tells Katniss that's how she knew how she could trust her. And even though Rue's death scene made me cry, I prefer the fanmade version online better. In that one, Katniss can barely get the words out because she's crying so much, which seemed like a far more powerful performance. And in the movie, what was that with Katniss cutting Rue out of the netting before Rue got speared? Both my boyfriend and I were like "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Are they actually going to let Rue live?!"
I know the cuts were done because of time, but did they really have to put the story explaining the Games at the beginning of the movie when they were going to explain it all anyway in the film President Snow made? And there were several times too when it felt like things were going a bit slow and yet the important scenes, like the bonding scenes, were made to go by too fast.
The first book is my favorite of the series, and yet I have a feeling that either the second or third movie will be my favorite of the series. So all and all, I thought the movie was okay. It had the look, it had the feel, the actors were perfect, but it was the cutting of important dialogue that explained why certain people glued together...Rue and Katniss, Katniss and Peeta...that bothered me, and also rushing things that shouldn't have been rushed and slowing things down with scenes that were repetitive and unnecessary.
Will I still get the DVD? Of course! I just might not watch it as obsessively as I thought I would before I saw the movie.

Yes the soundtrack was great!
And if you feel like you like editing you won't get frustrated at all I remember I started editing vids at my phone cause I was watching lots of music vids on YT and it was so awesome. Its a good thing my dad insisted I started editing on a computer cause I was like ''naaah too hard for me'' and I ended up loving it and slowly becoming really good at it I mean I could as well be a pro, and if I get the chance that's the job I wanna do
Ok my dream job would be making trailers but that's not really popular over here.
And yes that's very true! Anything is better than exams XD
Yes that's the bad thing about tablets you can't see what you're doing on it. Well that's 1 bad thing the other is that they're damn expensive XD
That sounds awesome! Yay for Katniss look-alikes
And yeah that's great The movie was more funny than I expected I had to laugh quite a few times XD
Well you're right in EVERYTHING you said I couldn't agree more, but I think this was as close to perfect as it could be, really it was the best book adaptation I have ever seen by Hollywood, cause I'm always disappointed by the books I see turned into movies, they change the story, leave out details, change the meaning etc. I didn't expect them to follow the book so well and include so many details like Peeta shaking his head before the gong goes off, or Katniss's hallucinations and even her nightmares, and Peeta's funny interview with Caesar I didn't expect them to do the sniffing each other thing XD.
Now for the movie to show how the characters bonded it should have been like 4 hours long, I was disappointed as well by how short the scenes with Rue and Peeta were but they were so short even with the movie cutting out stuff like Katniss almost dying from dehydration and Peeta's leg and the 1 of the interviews at the end and other things of course. They were short on time I get that. And I believe they changed Rue's death scene (Katniss freeing her from the net before she dies) cause it would seem too brutal like that, a 12 year old trapped in a net and someone throws a spear at her, don't you think? That's also why there was no sound at the bloodbath at the beginning, and they didn't let Cato have a slow death, the movie was only pg-13 after all. So yeah I didn't like that the movie left an impression like the games were almost easy to win, I mean they were supposed to be almost dying by the end especially Peeta with his leg but I guess that was cause they didn't have time. And they made Katniss look like she was faking everything in the end in those interviews and Peeta smiling at her I really felt sorry for him. But I did love her look in the end when she sees Gale and she's so torn between what she really feels and what she thought she felt, her look was really perfect in that scene. Also I liked that they included Seneca's death and the uprising in district 11, it prepares you for the next movie I thought it was brilliant Oh and I loved Katniss's interview dress because I imagined the dress in the book like the most breathtaking and amazing dress ever and I was SO disappointed when I saw that plain red dress in the trailer and thought they completely ruined it so when flames popped out in the movie I was happy that at least there was something special about that dress after all XD. And ohmygosh I loved Effie! When she was like ''but the careers can't have dessert, and you can!''
Haha it was hilarious! And Caesar's serious face when the show begins and he suddenly smiles, omg I was drinking water and almost choked, it was so funny XD So yeah all in all I think they did the best they could with their given time and was really satisfied with the movie

That's great. You should always try to find a job in something you enjoy doing in your spare time anyway since most of your life will be spent at work. You might as well get paid for something you enjoy to do since work is hard enough as it is. Otherwise, you'll just be miserable. I love my job (I work at a prop house, which means we rent out furniture and home decorations to the TV and movie studios), but I still get really stressed out at times. If it weren't for the fact that I take pride in what I do (I even worked once with the set decorator for "The Hunger Games," Larry Dias. Only back then, he was working on a commercial), I probably wouldn't be very happy. Anyway, if you don't have much luck finding an editing job there in Greece, I'm sure you could find something here in Los Angeles. We are the entertainment center of the world, after all.
That's true. By Hollywood standards, they stayed as close at they could to the book. It helps that Suzanne Collins was one of the screenwriters. It could have been worse. It could have been like the "Eragon" movie where they changed so many important things that the rest of the series didn't get picked up for more movie adaptations.
Yes, it was definitely funnier than I thought it was going to be and I agree that Effie was hilarious. I wasn't really Team Effie before, but I am now! She was naive and funny in the books and I'm glad they were able to convey that, if not more so in the movie. I just remember in the book how she was training Katniss for the interview and she said something like "Just look at me. I'm smiling at you even though you're infuriating me!" I also love the part in the movie where they hear Peeta's score, and while everyone else is cheering for him, Effie is like "An eight? That's okay. We can work with that."
Actually, I wouldn't have minded if it was a 3 hour movie the way "Lord of the Rings" was if it meant that the scenes from the book I was looking forward to could make it into the movie. "The Hunger Games" is an epic book series. It deserves the screen time of an epic movie as well.
I liked the movie. I just wish the scenes I was looking forward to weren't rushed, while the moments that weren't even in the books took up precious time. As much as I love "The Hunger Games" book series, there were several slow moments in movie version that I thought I'd fall asleep. Even my boyfriend admitted he'd space out at those times and start worrying about stuff he needed to do for work.
Either way, I still adore "The Hunger Games" and I look forward to the next two movies.

Oh wow that's awesome! Sounds like a fun job And its great that you enjoy it, I agree everyone should do what they like for living. That's why I'm not gonna do anything with 3D in the future (that's what I'm majoring for 3D animation but it turns out its super exhausting and I don't even like it that much). Yeah I know but I wouldn't leave my country for a job ever...even if it really sucks here the last years I just don't wanna leave somehow
Tell me about it! They ruined The Golden Compass as well especially the ending >.> I'm still pissed off about that even though the movie came out years ago..
I know I was never a big fan of Effie in the books but she was just so fun to be around in the movie! Oh yes the ''we can work with that'' moment it was so funny XD.
I wouldn't have minded either if the movie was 3 hours and probably none of the rest of the book fans either but what about the other people who didn't read the books and just went to watch a movie at the theaters? It could have been tiring, I remember my back was hurting when Avatar was finally over XD. Sure the lord of the rings was super popular and epic but I don't think anyone can compare THG with LOTR. Even though THG was a huge success I read today that it did the 3rd best opening of all time! Isn't that amazing? 155 millions in the usa only I was so happy to read that, I don't think anyone expected that much success
Btw how do you feel about Mockinjay being split into 2 movies? If anything should have been split into 2 movies it's the first or second books in my opinion..I loved Mockinjay as much as the others but...I don't know I don't think there's a point in splitting it up..
Well I guess the director was trying to give a feeling of what was going on and emphasize the stuff he thought were important with these unimportant scenes. I really think he did a great job overall and I'm not too judgemental, I'd like to see all the people saying he was not good doing a better job than him And yes I can't wait for the next movies either! There are so many characters I wanna see, especially Finnick!
And no, not just cause he's hot XD Finnick is awesome <3

It is. We work on so much stuff (movies, TV shows, commercials, and photoshoots) that sometimes I worked on something and then one day I'll be watching a movie or TV show, see something that looks familiar, and I'll be like "Oh my gosh! That's from my work!" It's pretty cool.
You too? I also wanted to be a 3D animator once. Actually, I wanted to be a traditional Disney animator first and then a 3D animator, but like you, I didn't have much patience for it. In the end, I was still able to use my art and film degrees, but with live action films instead of animation, which actually suits me better.
I understand. I've lived in America my entire life and while it's nice to visit other countries, I don't think I have it in me to leave where I grew up.
I know! I was disappointed about "The Golden Compass" also! I just remember how bittersweet the end of the book series was with the two of them always meeting at the same bench at the same time even though they're in different universes because it's the only way they can be together. So sad! It would have been nice to see it all acted out, and they had an amazing cast too with Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig.
When I walked out of the theater and looked at the time, I was actually surprised that the movie was as long as it was because it didn't seem that way since so many scenes seemed rush. I was actually hoping the movie could have been longer because it felt kind of short to me.
Before I went to the theater to watch the movie, I was talking to a guy about it since he had never even heard of "The Hunger Games" before, so afterwards when I was watching the movie, I was trying to imagine what it would be like for someone like him to watch it since I told him he should go and see it. I just remember thinking "Oh geez. He's not going to understand this part!" (I'm referring to the flashbacks with Peeta throwing Katniss the bread). It probably would have taken only a couple of minutes to show Katniss rummaging through the trash bin, but it would have made such a big difference because it would truly get across how pivotal Peeta's actions were in changing Katniss' life around. Little details like this may have made the movie longer, and yet it would have given what the characters did more background and depth and given people who have never even heard of "The Hunger Games," like the guy I was talking about, a better understanding of what was going on since he didn't seem like the type to go out and read the books. The movie may have been shorter to convenience the people who know nothing about the books, but in consequence, it gave up a lot of quality as well. If that guy does decide to watch the movie, I'm not sure if he'll understand what all the fuss was about. Sacrificing a bit more time sitting in the theater might have been worth it if it would have made certain parts more understandable, but not only that...more meaningful, and therefore turn those non-fans into fans themselves.
I look forward to seeing Finnick too. I love the storyline between him and Annie and I want to see the playful scenes he has with Katniss.
Have you seen "The Hunger Games" memes that have been showing up here on deviant? They're hilarious! Here are a couple of links:

That's totally awesome!
Yeah well...I've been editing vids for 4 years now and it's just amazing so what I really wanted to do was video editing but that wasn't in a category really and the closest thing I found was animation. It's so time consuming and really hard in general, I can work a lot of programs hard and easy but the program we use for 3D animation, 3Ds Max, it's like...out of this world! Incredibly complicated with a million settings and changes for every little thing and I don't even like doing 3D that much so I don't feel like pushing myself to learn it better. On the other hand I push myself to learn advanced editing programs cause I like them, I do this on my own cause we do zero video editing at school, and it's not that hard either I get the hang of those programs easily cause I actually care XD.
Well I had not read the 3rd book yet so that was kind of a spoiler but that's alright XD. I just hated how they changed the ending in the first movie and just made this cheesy ''another adventure awaits for us'' cliche ending, while the book's ending had this awesome twist, it would have been so much better, I don't know what the filmmakers were thinking..And since the movie didn't have success in the us there won't be any more, so congratz to them for slaughtering the story like that.
It didn't seem short to me maybe cause I already knew the exact length I don't know XD.
Like I said I agree with all this, but they must have had a pretty good reason for keeping these details out. Who knows maybe we'll figure it out on the next movie And about that flashback scene I think it would just be better if they didn't cut it all the time and just showed the whole thing, it would make more sense immediately. I was thinking the same during the movie that there are some stuff people who haven't read the books won't get, or at least they won't get how important they were. Did it seem to you too like winning the games wasn't such a big deal? Even though 2 people won together for the first time? It seemed like everyone was really cool about this..like when Katniss returns in district 12 and they just smile at her? I would be going crazy and cheering and screaming XD
Yes I can't wait to see the ''do you find this...distracting?'' scene, I actually laughed when I read that XD
Haha omg those were hilarious the second one killed me! XD ''and that's how I met your mother'' lol. Oh and I found this awesome drawing of the interview dress, not how I imagined it but it's just beautiful [link]

Are there any film or TV studios there that you can intern for? It really sounds like you should be in the editing department. It suits your interests and you're good at it. If you can get an internship even before you finish school, that will look really good on your resume and you'll be more likely to get hired in the job of your choice. You might even get hired straight out of school.
That's what I did. I interned for the set decorating department of the TV show The X-files while I was still in college, and then even before I graduated, I called or e-mailed all the prop houses in a directory and told them "I'll be graduating really soon. I already have experience. Would you be willing to see me for a job interview?" So basically, I graduated from college, got the summer off, and by the fall I already had a job, my dream job even.
Oh, sorry about that! I thought you had read all the books! Anyway, yes, it's too bad that some book series don't get to have all the books turned into movies because the first movie adaptation ruined it.
I hope so! Like my co-worker (who also read the book before watching the movie) said "It felt empty." If the sequels will include the things left out in the first movie that will be awesome, if they don't...
Yes! I remember thinking "How many times are they going to flash this flashback?" and yet in spite of the number of times they repeated it, it didn't make much sense because it was all cut up. It definitely would have made more sense if they had just shown the entire thing once in its entirety.
I felt the same way. It felt like Katniss and Peeta were destined to win anyway, which downplayed the importance of both of them winning. On the other hand in the books, you truly don't know if one or neither of them will get out alive, which is why their both winning was so amazing.
I want to see the part where Katniss is crying after Peeta was just brought back to life by Finnick, and Finnick gives Katniss a confused look because he was so sure she was faking the "star-crossed lovers" bit, and yet her reaction to Peeta's death proved otherwise. I'll be so disappointed if they cut out that look Finnick gives her in the movie!
Yeah, they're great! I'm hoping to find more.
Thank you for the link. It's funny because once I clicked on the link, it showed that I already had it in my favorites. So yes, I agree, it's a beautiful interpretation of the dress.

Sadly I don't think there's anything here, unless if I go work on tv which I don't really want to XD. And even if I did it would be pretty much impossible cause there are very few jobs available nowdays almost no one does what they really majored for. I don't know if you've heard but Greece is having a major financial crisis at the moment. So yeah, not likely I'll do something with editing but it's much easier to do some graphic design which is my 2nd best thing, and it's actually much more popular so I see me doing something like that hopefully. That ain't bad at all
Haha it's alright don't worry about it, I've read the 2 first books it's just the last one I haven't read yet. And yeah that really sucks. They had good cast and nice effects and all if only they followed the book better..
Yeah I remember the first book for being so intense, I had never read anything more intense in my life and I can't really say I got that same feeling in the movie. And yeah it really looked like they were destined to win right from the beginning, it didn't feel like a big deal.
Oh yes I wanna see that as well I really hope they won't cut it out! I believe they'll keep it in cause thy seemed to keep those kind of little details in the first movie. I honestly didn't expect them to show Peeta shaking his head before the gong goes off. Can't wait to watch it again later today! (Yeah I downloaded a camera quality version but its not shaky at all and has good sound, the only thing hinting it's from a camera it's cause it's a bit blurry otherwise great quality, it's almost 2GB big after all good quality was a given XD.)
That's great then Seems like everyone knew about that piece I showed it to a friend of mine yesterday and it was already in her faves as well lol.

Yes, I've heard about the financial crisis in Greece. I'm sorry that you guys are struggling so much. I think the U.S. is no better. It's just that we keep borrowing money. That's why we're in trillions of dollars of debt.
Well, as long as you can get a job that suits your interests and you're good at it, then that's all that really matters. And if it's really bad, any job is better than no job at all. You can always do what you really love on your spare time and maybe build up a portfolio so that just in case the job of your dreams does open up, you'll have something to show.
I don't know if you've seen these already, but they made me laugh:

The last link reminds me of how everyone was laughing every time in the movie when they would show Katniss and Peeta kissing and Gale just being like *sigh* Poor Gale! That's when I appreciated the overexcited fangirls in front of us because I think if I was watching those scenes by myself, I'd just be silent, but because those fangirls were laughing during those scenes, they made the rest of us in the theater laugh as well.

Well it's our fault for being too cool to pay taxes and avoiding them and that's how you get a huge debt XD I mean bot me but that's how everyone works here, if you actually pay you're considered stupid and naive.
Yup that's exactly what I think
Haha the Peeta version one cracked me up XDD Brilliant and so true XD
And wow, I noticed on some comments that people were laughing there as well o.o Am I the only 1 who thinks that's mean? I mean poor Gale seriously. I was just conflicted during that moment cause even though I couldn't wait till Katniss and Peeta kissed I'm actually more of a GalexKatniss fan and I was so happy when they kissed and then totally felt guilty cause they showed Gale's face RIGHT after that XD. Why did they have to do that they totally made me feel guilty about that moment XD.

ShipperTrish In reply to PhotonLights [2012-03-29 02:33:35 +0000 UTC]
Really? I didn't know that. I guess it's the other European countries that don't mind paying big taxes as long as all their needs and wants are met. There's a travel show here called Rick Steve's Europe and he even says on his show that the U.S. should take a lesson from European countries since they know that paying high taxes can be worth it if it ups their standard of living. At least now I know it's not all European countries that are like that.
Well, you can't help but feel sorry for Gale. It definitely sucks for him. At this point, though, most everyone knows who Katniss ends up with, so they feel freer to laugh at poor Gale's predicament.
Have you gotten any new ideas for music vids now that you've been watching the movie again online?
