Man this thing took a while to finish. I was liking some of the Halo 3 armor and felt I haven't worked on a good armor suit in quite a while so here's my latest sci-fi epic. There is definitely a story going on here but I think you can probably figure it out. There's a few details that clue you in on whats going on so make sure you get a good look. Its loosely Halo inspired but its up to you if you want to place this scene in the Halo Universe.

Time taken: entirely too long, I lost track. Probably over 25 hrs.
Software: DAZ Studio, Photoshop
Reference: none other than my 3D model.

Edit: I did a major edit on the corridor going for a rusty, gritty darker look. Comments are certainly welcome.

Wow I can definatly see the change, it looks even better than it allready did!

The rusty corridor and floor really adds allot to the whole atmosphere of the pircure and the slime looks beter as well

Thanks, I thought it was a definite improvement on the original. I compared them side by side and the new one is way better I think.

Thanks for the comment as always.

Sure. I think I want to make the corridor darker and reduce the blood. I need to set the mood a bit better.

Do you go to Dragon Con? I'm very fortunate that the second largest anime con in the US is a 45 min drive from my house.

Yeah, several time. Once to help with AQ, once on my own to see some friends play. Misfits. Hoping to have my own booth there one day. Currently getting designs together for clothing at Ren fair next year though> I will probably be at con this year though, if only to see some of my friends and such.

You know I've never been to a Ren fair. I don't know why. We went to Medieval Times for our anniversary and we had such fun that I think we'll go to the Ren fair this year. Any advice for a first timer?

Afina79 In reply to shiroboi [2009-06-11 15:29:15 +0000 UTC]

First timer, go alone or just with the wife. Leave the baby with a sitter. There is so much to see and do and it can get really hot. The one here in Ga is rather hilly as well. Stroller pushing is a pain. I know, took my daughter when she was 6 months old.

Also, be prepared to be approached a lot. The people that work there have jobs as not only sales people but as actors just to enhance the atmosphere. They don't as much if you are in the crowd and dressed in modern clothing but if you are in Ren Attire, they will. People that are just visiting as well will approach you if you are. It is a lot of fun to go in costume. Just tell the wife it is like Halloween. Trust me, get her in the first shop with some beautiful corsets, let her loose and she will have a ball. I was put off the first time I went but then I got in the belly dancer costume tent and let them doll me up. Fell in love with it and haven't looked back. (Funny thing is I was a gamer and such but not big time back them. This locked me into it, as well as art and such.)

I'm sure my wife would like to dress up, she loves halloween. We'll see though, we'd probably go in plain clothes the first time. Its in the fall in PA so I doubt heat will be an issue. My daughter is well behaved so I might just let her ride on my shoulders. She loves that. I also have a backpack but shoulders is pretty convinient. She'll be about 15 months by then.

Afina79 In reply to shiroboi [2009-06-11 17:43:08 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, she will at least be able to enjoy the view at that age and get to take in a lot. Bring a light umbrella stroller with good wheels though. Light enough to carry around but study enough for the walk.

shiroboi In reply to Afina79 [2009-06-11 17:59:01 +0000 UTC]

We always have an umbrella stroller in the car. They're very handy when you need them. My daughter prefers my shoulders or the backpack though.

Sounds like me with the stroller. Yeah, my kids are the same way. Hubby's back is always killing him because of it. lol

The frame backpack with my daughter in it is around 25 pounds which I can carry for a few hours until it hurts my back. I took my daughter to New York City a few weeks ago using the backpack. It worked great, we had a fun day there.

Afina79 In reply to shiroboi [2009-06-11 20:07:10 +0000 UTC]

Well that's good. Never have bought one of those. The kids seem to outgrow them so quickly.

shiroboi In reply to Afina79 [2009-06-11 20:23:00 +0000 UTC]

It's supposed to hold a child up to 40 pounds but I'm not sure how far I could go with a 50 pound weight on my back. We mainly bought it for going around in Tokyo, which it came in handy. I will never go to tokyo with that much luggage again, ugh.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Afina79 In reply to shiroboi [2009-06-11 22:38:45 +0000 UTC]

I don't even want to think about it. My 4 year old doesn't even weigh 50 yet. I wouldn't want to have to lug him around. lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shiroboi In reply to Afina79 [2009-06-12 12:32:56 +0000 UTC]

I know, thats seriously a lot of weight. Not bad for a few minutes but horrible if you try to carry that weight for a few hours.

Well my little one is quite petite so I have that going for me but as she gets heavier its going to be more of a problem.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Afina79 In reply to shiroboi [2009-06-12 20:00:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, just give it time. Granted, with the weight, I really don't think it is as much as a factor as the wiggling they start doing the older they get.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shiroboi In reply to Afina79 [2009-06-12 20:21:11 +0000 UTC]

Ah the wiggling. That usually gets them put down. You should just get one of those monkey backpack leashes. Its the best thing ever!

Afina79 In reply to shiroboi [2009-06-13 13:14:38 +0000 UTC]

Ahh, well give her time. With my first I hated it as well. It took till my first was 3 year old to start getting out of the house by myself. Now with my oldest turning 10 and my youngest just turning one, if we run out of one little thing in the house, my butt is in the car and out the door. Even 5 minutes of quiet time to grab floss is worth it. lol

shiroboi In reply to Afina79 [2009-06-15 14:24:27 +0000 UTC]

Even before the kids, she likes to be with me all the time. Rarely goes out with her friends.

1 and 10 huh, thats quite the age range there. My oldest sister is 9 years younger than me. Its a significant gap.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Afina79 In reply to shiroboi [2009-06-15 14:51:29 +0000 UTC]

Ahh, sounds like how I used to be. Before the kids I rarely went out. Now that I have them, I take whatever chance I can to get 5 minutes peace.lol

Yeah, between my and my siblings I am the oldest, the youngest is still in high school. 15 year gap between first and last. Granted that is nothing for my husband. He is the youngest of three at 30. His oldest brother is 65.

shiroboi In reply to Afina79 [2009-06-15 16:46:55 +0000 UTC]

Two families basically. His dad was a Naval vet. Had a family when he was young. Got divorced. When he was in his late fifties remarried. She was in her 40's. They ended up having two together. One is my hubby.

It did but he basically shut down for a period of a couple of months so he wouldn't feel anything. He had to be the level headed one through everything for everyone else. Once everyone else was okay, then he finally let it out.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Afina79 In reply to shiroboi [2009-06-16 14:36:34 +0000 UTC]

Not really. The men in his family have this shut down reaction to stressful situations like that.Granted they end up shutting down good emotions as well during this time. It is more like a defense mechanism.

Thank you, Halo was just my inspirational starting point in thinking of the armor, the actual piece shouldn't be that close. If I really were to put this in the halo universe intentionally, i would have studied the art style of the games and tried to emulate it.

I'm glad some people still like mech suits.
