Description
Ive wrestled with this piece for a while. Ive never truly been completely happy with it. Theres always been something "not right" about it. It was either the lighting, or the colors, or the nebula... something just didnt fit with it. And tonight I finally hit the right color and everything just fell into place.Im finally glad to say that its done.

The Gimp is pretty fairly capabable of 'photoshop' abilities (not that I am yet... but learning) - will have to look into Bryce... Thanx for answering...

Mostly photoshop 7.0.
For this one I used bryce to make the rocks and put it all together in photoshop.

how you made those textures is beyond me....

actually i did use bryce to make them,
but probably not in the way you might think.
i rendered them seperately and then edited them in photoshop.

Heres what i did.
First turn off atmosphere, make it a neutral color like a grayish blue for hte background
then i set the sunlight to be overhead, or where there are no shadows cast.
then i take rocks with a texture i cant remember that was in the generator, then rendered sets of rocks.
then cut them out in photoshop, and placed them, and added my own lighting.

how did you manage to make a million pieces though? that would have taken weeks =/ i can't wait that long and asteroids are the one thing i've been meaning to take good use of....
Help on textures and multiplication would help me sooooooo bad

This is great. Wondrous detail and I don't know what you're talking about, the colors are near perfect. The only thing I can say is that it gets a little cluttered in the foreground, but whatever. like I said, this is great.

What can I add to what's been noted already. Ditto the above. The detail in every element of the piece is utterly fantastic. How long have you been working on it? Must have been quite a while.
When I catch my breath, I'll say, "I'M impressed." Very, very impressed.
