**sorry, another random update XD this picture was also easy to take. now its been properly watermarked and such. also easier to view, somehow i didnt know it was that huge XD anyway, sorry if this is in ur devwatch again!this is a portrait of this was posted on his stock account a while ago. the picture isn't posted anymore, so sorry, i can't link it.
if ur gonna comment here and all ur gonna say is 'oh hes hot' or somethin like that, dont even bother commenting. i say advanced critique encouraged cuz i want real comments, menaing on the drawing, not just the subject. i didnt just draw him cuz hes uber hot or somethin, the picture looked challenging.
oh, and i didnt include the border agin cuz it wouldnt fit in my scanner, lol. that top part u see is part of the burning i did. i might try and scan on the school's scanner cuz its bigger
hope u like

he is great to draw, i've attempted him a couple of times, but nothing that looked as good as this. you do the skin toe so well and the minute patterns in the clothing... pure talent. i am in awe.

this is absolutely beautiful!! what kind of pencil did you use, though? was it charcoal, or just normal pencil?? i used to draw stuff liek this, and i wanna do it again, but it wasn't nearly as well drawn as this is! i haven't seen the original (der) but the nose looks kinda big, and the eye looks a little small...wonderful shading though...beautiful...

thank you very much!
the pencil i use is just normal pencil, dont much like charcoal.
i think the small eyes and big nose probably has a lot to do with the perspective. he's sorta looking down his nose at the camera, not in the snobbish sens though, in the literal sense, lol.

This is by far the best freakin' drawing of Alex I've ever, ever seen here on dA. So many people attempt it, yet so few have achieved what you have here ... which would be that you've captured every single detail perfectly and, like so many of your other deviations, have created a piece fit for a photo.
The texture in his jumper is superb - You've made me feel as if I can reach out and touch my screen and will feel the rough, courdroy bumps of his shirt.
His hair is also excellent. Each strand is able to stand out from the rest and I can definetly tell you didn't just get frustrated and colour in this big lump, hoping no one would notice.
I love his labret too, and his chin. Hehe. Seriously though, it looks soo real, as too do his eyes, lips and teeth. Eh, I'm going to give up praising every inch of him, as you've drawn him too well!!
You are too talented. But that's a good thing ...

i'm fairly sure this piece doesn't need any more praise because it's all been said. you are truly an amazing artist and i would love to be able to have a hundredth of the skill displayed in this piece. u seem to have a wonderful relationship with your lucky pencil and long may it continue. any tips you could give on how u acheive the shading and effect on the jumper would be muchly appreciated-i find such perfection impossible!

You asked for an actual critique rather than "he's hot" or the like, so here you go :
Firstly, well done on the figure and proportion here, first glance would make one assume its a photograph if they're just looking at a thumbnail.
Excellent use of contrast. Is this an 8B/9B pencil or charcoal? (If 9B, how did you get rid of the sheen 9B's tend to give?) Also, the fact you have kept the hightlights as close to the paper's actual shade really brings the contrast to a good level (bold yet not compromising)
While keeping to the portrait's flaws (moles here and there) I would have loved to see more definition in areas like the neck itself and the clothing like how you've done the face. I know doing knit or anything with stripes is an incredible headache no matter if you enjoy doing it or not. The neck meeting the background provides a little haze due to not completely defining the area, and same with some of the lower parts of the cloth, however overall the job here is well done.
Wonderful detail with the hair, I'm personally a sucker for the stringy look when drawing since it can be so much fun to do such. My only concern is the lack of hightlights in general with the hair since everything else has highlights and it makes the hair look flat.
Keeping the background a simple white is actually good for this sort of work since you do not wish to detract from your figure, and I'd really like to see how you did the burnt edging in its entirety to give you a critique on that part.
Lastly, the only visable eye has only one drawback; it seems to have just been set there rather than being defined by the natural recession compared to the rest of the face. The original may have appeared the way you placed it due to the makeup, but without seeing the model, I can't honestly say that it doesn't bug me a little.

thank you! that was a great critique! this is all done in lead pencil (2B) and in the darkest areas with 9B woodless pencil. the way to get rid of the sheen is to go back over it with very fine strokes with a lead pencil

There is probably not much i can add to what people have already said - so I will just say why I like this. I saw it on someone elses page and almost thought it was a photo. The skin texture is amazing and so is the texture on the clothes. Very well done. You are very talented.

At first glance, I thought this was a picture. By the time the fourth glance came around, I finally realized it was a drawing. (I saw the traditional art icon next to its name) This is just marvelous, the texture on the shirt really adds a lot to the realism. His eye fixates on the viewer a lot, great job on it. I have nothing to really offer advice wise, just that this is the most amazing pencil made art I've seen in a long, long time.

Oh wow, that's incredible! WOW again! The textures, the shades, the hair... it all looks almost EXACTLY like the origional! I remember seeing it a while back, the only difference I can detect is that a few of the shadows around and above the lips are a little too dark, but man this should be a daily deviation!!! How the hell does one submit a nomination???
I've tried to duplicate a photo of bionic, but it was about a year ago and I've much improved since. Anyway, I had a point... oh yeah. I use pencils and they suck. Charcoal kicks ass and so do you.
