Description **sorry, another random update XD this picture was also easy to take. now its been properly watermarked and such. also easier to view, somehow i didnt know it was that huge XD anyway, sorry if this is in ur devwatch again!

this is a portrait of this was posted on his stock account a while ago. the picture isn't posted anymore, so sorry, i can't link it.
if ur gonna comment here and all ur gonna say is 'oh hes hot' or somethin like that, dont even bother commenting. i say advanced critique encouraged cuz i want real comments, menaing on the drawing, not just the subject. i didnt just draw him cuz hes uber hot or somethin, the picture looked challenging.
oh, and i didnt include the border agin cuz it wouldnt fit in my scanner, lol. that top part u see is part of the burning i did. i might try and scan on the school's scanner cuz its bigger
hope u like

most people probably wont be able to give advanced critique on a picture like this, since they'll never be able to live up to these standards. you're one of a kind, and the only advice i can give you is; paint more, so you can get as good at oils as you seem to be with a pencil, and concerning the drawing the only thing that annoys me is the fold in his shirt (on top of his head) which seems unnatural.

since you said you wanted comments on the pic and not the dude, i set out to find something wrong...i couldn't. I'm glad i didn't. I'm attempting realism myself and one day i hope to draw as well as you. love ur work! love it!

The full gallery it's just superb, but this drawing has something atractive and sweet. I like the way you make the dark areas, what kind of pencils do you use? i only tried to draw with mechanical pencils, but i found them not enouht good without another techniques that makes the drawings more real, and i don't know how to do this :S any ideas?
(sorry for my very bad english, i hope you understand me)

thanx!! i use mechanical pencil too actually. but for dark areas, i use 9B woodless pencils, then go back over it with lead pencil to make the black its blackest

I have the original picture of him, and I must say I am absolutely amazed at how well you drew everything.
Every part of the face, the sweater, everything, it's all almost perfectly proportionate. I am in awe. I actually saved this picture [mind you, i save very few things to my hard drive]

I think this drawing is absolutely incredible. When I first saw it on the thumbnail, I thought it was just a black and white of the original.

I am quite impressed. keep it up. :]

Wow. You are very talented. The detail in this drawing is amazing. You have a very good grasp of shading. It seems like maybe you got a little shy about shading his face, specifically around his eye. Just seems like there isn't quite as much detail in that spot as the rest of the picture. But it's way better than I've ever done, so maybe you should just ignore me. I love it.

The only only only only thing thats kinda sorta bothering me is his eyes look shallow....but..its probibly just...me...so...I'll go away now and stare at this trying to extract the secrets of your excelence.

Wow, you did an amazing job. At first glance I thought it was an edited photograph. The flesh tones I very realizitic. The only thing that gave it away as being a drawing was the detail in the bottom right corner. The shading seems a bit forced and isn't quite as smooth as in the rest of the drawing. Hope my commentary helped though really your skill is much greater than mine in something like this.

Thats a drawing? I would have thought it simply a black and white photo of a guy. Thats incredible. The texture in the shirt and the variations on the shading is outstanding. I'll reiterate the shirrt comment.I don't want to think about how much time you spent getting all those lines and the folds done right!
looking at it a second time the shading on the neck and collar could be blended it a bit more. Its a bit liney.
I agree with the DrunkGoth. This is almost perfect in terms that the shanding is perfect in the depths it creates and the shading and light vs dark is incredably well done. The burning is a very nice touch..i can only see a bit..but I can imagine the rest. Very nice touch.
Once again I am in awe of your ability as an artist!

Terrific shading & the composition is interesting. Bionic's neck is a bit off, but other than that, the piece is terrific.

that shirt. wow. that was probably REALLY hard, wasn't it? I really love the hair and his eye, too. you captured the slightly wet/sweaty hair texture perfectly. The lips seem like they could've been defined a little more, but they look fine the way they are and contribute to the overall look. My last little bit of critique is the shadow above his lip seems a little too dark, but that could just be me and I don't have the reference photo to judge it on.

Anyway, awesome work!

p.s. well.....he IS hot

That shirt is amazing it plays off of the skin nicely. The only thing I would like to see changed is the jaw line, I wish it was just a hair darker, and maybe a few highlights in the hair just so it doesn't flaten out. I am being very picky here because I think that this drawing is already a very beautiful and really doesn't need anymore work. And I blieve in real critiquing where one points out something one likes, and then points out an area for improvment. Anyway beautiful drawing I have been looking for somthing to fav. for about a week now.

Hi Shley, I'm sorry it has taken me a while to weigh in on this one. I'm sure you can understand that finals have had me completely tied up!
But fear not, I have no intention of saying that he is hot! ha ha!
Now, down to business....
It seems to me (on full-view) that the pupil of the eye is very (very!) slightly off-center. I'm not sure if that is a bad thing, it makes the eye unusual and might contribute to the fact that the eye is so intriguing to look at. Of course, the eyeliner has something to do with that as well.
I agree with the comment above that the divot above the upper lip plunges a little too deep due to the darkness with which it is shadowed.
This person is quite thin, yes? Because his upper arm in the folds of the sweater would have to be very thin indeed.
As for the sweater, is it not SO much fun to draw sweaters? I love to.
I'm interested to know more about the specs of this piece, Shley. Pencil type? Paper type?
Thanks.

have you consideresd matting your images instead of burning them... there should be a reqson for the bunt edges, not just for technique of making a border... i think something more classic and less damaging to the paper would be better suited... you'll learn if you go to art school to consider the life of your work... by burning the edges, you're making it succeptible to damage faster, assuming that you're using regular sketch paper. aside from that... amazing...

there is a certain meaning behind why i burn my work, a personal one, otherwise i wouldnt feel the need to but i know what you mean by it being more susceptible to damage. im not sure if bristol board fairs better then other papers, but i hope so
