Description
pippi longstockings turn 60 this year, so i wanted to celebrate her with some fan-art.pippi is the creation of one of the 20th century´s best writers ASTRID LINDGREN. pippi is the saviour of all girls, she´s here to save us from the fluffy-pink barbie hell little girls are exposed to, and she´s an inspiration to ALL (boys and girls) showing us we can be naughty and cause mayhem without being nasty and evil!!!
those of you not aquainted with astrid lindgren or with pippi,-get a MOVE on
also check out the original pippi illustrator INGRID VAGN-NYMANN. my pippi looks like something made by a southpawed, blind man next to her awesome illustrations!!!
(astrid, we miss you)

"Rrrrrrriot Grrrrls! Riot" to Quote Mr Pop ..(Iggy that is) title reminds me of beggining of 1990s when certain English Journalists tried to create a music scene..it made girl power a issue I guess but I think Patti Smith, Mo Tucker and Debby Harry did the job a decade or two b4 .. I went to see Sonic Youth and Pavement in Brixton about the end of 92 I remember seeing Huggy Bear(A london Riot Grrrl group although it had two boys in it) too as surport..I felt kind of sorry for them
seeing as press had built them up .. scenes come and go Riot Grrl will never go away really as it's just another good valid form of punk.. my fave all girl band currently are The Dirty Burds,Thee Headcoatees and plenty of Japanese girl groups but they dont need labels like Riot Grrll as they stand up as a valid group without one. . We never got this cartoon in UK (well at least I dont think I've seen her before..she reminds me of Beryl the Peril and Minny the Minx from british comics The Dandy and the Beano) but I remember Austin Powers saying something along the lines of "Zip it Zippy Longstockings
" in 2nd movie Mike Myers must be a fan ..

the rriot-grrl `movement´(if you can call it that) started in olympia, washington state. and was such called by the `founders´. people included were amongst others bikini kill! i know huggybear, they were sort of part of it,- they did a split vinyl record with bikini kill. at least that´s what i know of it,- i listened to it a lot back in the days of my early teenage-years. but the whole thing did become perverted by the journalists who started categorizing all female groups as rriot grrls. obviously there were a lot of women in rock before them, and i don´t think they ever wanted to give impression that they were the first. hey, i don´t know if i have my facts straight, but who cares when the music´s great

My friends Graham and Darren met Thurston Moore about 10 or 12 years ago ..Thurston must of been in his 40s but they said he looked like a 14 year old ..Thurston was a fan of there sound(experimental nutty stuff) They were called The Shadow Ring .. it's strange to think that one of my heroes rates my friends ..they also met Jon Spencer ..who is kind of like god to me
I gotta upload some Pussy Galore or Boss Hog
at some point

I remember his old interviews, when he was in Galore he was quite nasty to the Journo and to Julie too I think that was around the time she left..joined The Action Swingers (who were great too) I imagine times mellowed him out a little though ..I'm most jealous of him though his wifes a babe:faints:

Very cool indeed. Every Halloween I see at least six Pippis of different shapes, sizes and genders...she's one of those enduring characters that people have grabbed hold of and won't let go.
I've never looked through the books, though I remember a weird-ass movie version seen once in the depths of my childhood.
