Description
It's been a while since I did not make a matte sci-fi scene and here is "The Terminal".This one is fully inspired by a French artist I discovered in the following book in french (sorry...): [link]
It's Paul Chadeisson I should credit him for the composition and the brushes he kindly shared, check out his website: [link]
Have a look at his gallery, it's really good.
Nevertheless, everything has been fully made by myself, no like for like elements. I added many things, details and textures.
Here are the stocks I used, mostly for the left part of the plant:

Planet texture from the NASA site:

All the rest has been painted or from my own stock.
Hope you guys we'll like it.

Very nice! Epic science fiction - but not overstated - I like the mood, sense of scale, and the mysterious atmosphere.

you know, wallpaper kinda but preferably a solid piece of image so it wont tear considering how big it is

Wow, thx a lot Adam! I'm so happy at the moment!! I worked a lot on the details so glad you appreciate that! About the scale I wanted to push even further in the very background next to the smallest planet but did not really figure out what to do.

Its good, also I don't think any more detail would be needed, the structures going off into the distance and the use of atmospheric perspective works well enough without over doing it, adding more would probably make it look too cluttered, its a good balance

Thanks for your confirmation Adam, sometimes I really doubt about what I should do here and there. Scared to leave an empty spot in the picture with no details or too flat. You know what I mean but here indeed I came to the final idea that it was enough, he he! It's nice chatting with you mate.
Thx again.

Its necessary to have some empty space, well not empty but less detailed, implied detail is a tricky thing to get to grips with implying there is detail in areas where you have done very little work. Its striking a balance that guides the eye around the image and not having too much detail all over the place that leaves the eyes wondering all over
