Description
This requires:DAZ Studio 4.8 Beta (Iradium)
DAZ3D's Park Side High Lobby: www.daz3d.com/parkside-high-lo…
A .duf copy of the simple shader I used on the cubes is included, which does not require you to have the scene (just Iradium), or you can copy it from the cubes in the scene.
This scene demonstrates a method that can be used to create godrays in Iray using a cube with SSS to fill the scene. It is a large prop piece, so two cameras are included to point you to the right areas.

Thank you for posting this and the tutorial "creating dust and atmosphere in Iray" I did some experimenting and here was my result
I did tweak the time of day to fit the windows I had better. thank you

Thanks to you I will use this method instead of using atmoscam, I never managed to get it quite right

Your settings were very useful, I FINALLY have got a scene with a ray! woo hoo!
Though, the render time increases like CRAZY, and I have a TITAN X working here >_> any tips on shortening the render time? (for reference, I'm rendering a scene inside a cave with quite a few plants, and some crystals--5 minutes, it was over 70% done, but with the environment added, it was only at 3% after 20 minutes!)

There's not a lot you can do when you're talking about literal rays. Transmission = render time, and a scene with multiple very transmissive objects plus fog/rays will indeed be punitive on render time.
SSS amount increases time more than anything, followed by translucency, followed by refraction.

I'll try fooling around with the SSS amount and see what happens. Thanks!

Very welcome! This is a time of great experimentation with this as a new engine in DS, so there's a lot to work on.

The only downside to Iray was the lack of atmosphere. Now I can have some real fun
