Many of you already have Riversoft Art's great clothes converters for Genesis 3 to Genesis 8. For the conversion of clothes from Genesis 2 Female, I created a method that I believe to be completely new (and which is clone-independent), and I helped write the XML file as Tom wrote the script to automate it.
The lack of distortion here on Cinderella Ballgown (shown on Genesis 8 Female) is not a result of smoothing. Neither of the skirts shown has smoothing applied. We've basically solved Autofit Leg Crunch. The method adds a skirt rig to skirts and also has options to add cape or loincloth rigs to those items.
And on about 3/4 of high heeled shoes it straight up converts them correctly without intervention from the user. I think people are going to be excited about that part.

Also, there is something I don't understand, and I'm sure you can shed light on it--why is there *nothing* in the DAZ Studio store for Genesis 1 to G8? Is Genesis really so different? most clothing I want to keep and convert, is for the original Genesis!

It is a new and separate product, and it is just for G2 to G8. Riversoft Art already has converters for G3-G8. If people buy the G2-G8 one, we're planning to do a G1-G8 pair as well.
Chiefly the reason is that yes, Genesis IS that different. Genesis was Daz3d's only unisex figure. All the others have a male version and a female version. This means that Genesis' default androgynous shape makes conversion to both sexes a bit more difficult shapewise. I think RA and I can pull it off, but we'll see.

Does "to G8F" imply "to G3F" as well, since they are so similar? (for the shoes, that is...)

The position of their legs and feet differs enough to make that unreasonable for one script.

Cool! Even I have one or two things that it would be helpful to convert up that way. (Will the same technique -- eventually -- work with original flavor Genesis clothes as well, or is that still just different enough/old enough that it's not practical?)

We're probably going to wait to see if anyone buys the G2 one (I would, I have a huge G2 library) but we've talked about not only Genesis, but taking it clear back to Gen 4 if we can make it work.

The G3-G8 converter also does not use clones and should not cause clone distortion. That one also should retain any original custom bones rather than having to replace them with new rigs (sadly bones can't be retained from G2 to G8).
