Description These are the flesh monsters from the game, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. I'm doing a drawing idea trade with

not sure what I wan't him to draw yet, maybe something to do with Cthulhu.

Anyhow, not my best piece ever, thats for sure, butit was still fun to draw these little deformed pig monsters. I think the sky is the best part of the picture.

Prepositions at the end of a sentence don't bother me unless they're unnecessary. Unnecessary would be like "where are you at?" when the "at" should be left off.

Did you see the gun info I posted on the first page?

I'm not sure. I've been pretty busy with the art jobs so I kind of read fast and write faster. Therefore, messing up my prepositions.

Is it the shotgun stuff? or the SVU stuff?

IggyHazard In reply to sideshowmonkey [2005-11-30 02:21:11 +0000 UTC]

Both. I provided lynx to pyx of the Beretta 92 (aka M-9), TOZ-34 (12-gauge over/under), FN F2000 (w/40mm grenade launcher), and SVU. As for the shotgun, I explained what kinds of payloads a real combat shotgun would have. Everyone MUST read it so they'll be able to ridicule games and movies when they get it wrong.

Ha ha ha! It is funny when you see movies mess things up with guns. Especially loading and reloading guns and how many shells they can hold.

I'm geeky enough that I can point out every mistake made by every actor with every firearm in every movie I've ever seen.

I've got the perfect name for that stalker woman -- Natasha Kapowski. Keep in mind this takes place in Ukraine.

Yea, thats works great. I think she should write the first part of her last name in capitals.

I could just imagine her speaking with a sexy Polish or Ukrainian accent. She would be a survivalist like Sarah Connor.

Nice, i'm loving that sky, and those deformed pig things absolutely rock.

It's really cool the way you have the character standing above them.

GSC Gameworld had a contest a while back where people sent in drawings of their own monsters and the best monster ideas got put in the game!

Technically, it would be considered fanart, so GSC Gameworld would probably love it if a pro artist was doing fanart of their material.

Kicks ass, though. For reals.

I'm amazed that you did this entirely in a program and not by hand! I'm a graphic designer and I couldn't even dream of doing that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sideshowmonkey In reply to IggyHazard [2005-11-28 04:20:25 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I still draw on paper and then scan it in. I always forget that some people draw entirely in the computer.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IggyHazard In reply to sideshowmonkey [2005-11-28 04:26:28 +0000 UTC]

Oh, so you do it the way I do then (but with a different coloring technique). I wondered how you got such a crisp hand-drawn lo0k with your pics. That's really hard to do with a program. It's just so much harder to draw with a mouse or trackball than with a pen or pencil.

It's made by alias, I use it for my live digital sketches, i think the new CS and Sketchbook brush engines are pretty similar from the looks of it. I haven't bothered going up from 7 yet, Im too damn lazy.

But sketchbook rocks pretty hard becuase it's designed to be used with a tablet or cintiq, so the interface means never having to touch your mouse or use hotkeys.

The official site is : [link]

You can get a free trial there, or find it "elsewhere" pretty easy. hahaha

sideshowmonkey In reply to TheChairmanOfAwesome [2005-11-28 04:48:08 +0000 UTC]

Yea, that looks cool! I still sketch with paper though. I just like how it feels. I'm still having a hard time getting used to the slick feel of the Wacomtablet, I like to feel the rough texture of paper.

I guess that sounds kind of weird.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheChairmanOfAwesome In reply to sideshowmonkey [2005-11-28 04:54:00 +0000 UTC]

haha, i know exactly what you mean. I'm fortunate enough to have a cintiq which has a bit more "toot" than the tablet, and im geeked to upgrade to a newer model with textured pen tips.

I dunno if you have any stores in your area that sell 'em, but try out the cintiq, baby... it's changed my life.

(No, I do not work for wacom, heh.)

This is one of your best ever!! Or maybe I'm just saying that because it's my favorite monster from a game that isn't even out yet. And the stalker chick has an SVU, even! Semi-auto bullpup sniper rifle in 7.62x54mmR ('R' is for "rimmed"). Not quite as accurate as the Dragunov SVD, but far more compact and practical to carry. In the game, they forgot to reverse the image while rendering it, so the ejection port is on the left side instead of the right side. If the ejection port was on the left side, you'd have to sho0t it left-handed since it's a bullpup. I sho0t left-handed, so I could go for that.

FunFact: The Steyr AUG (or M-88 as it's known in Australian military nomenclature) is convertible so you can sho0t it either way. 'AUG' stands for "Army Universal Gun."

I got a big airsoft gun collection that I use for my short films. I'd like to have one of this gun, I'll have to look for it. My prize gun right now is an MP5 loaded up with a lasersight, night scope and Ras system.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

IggyHazard In reply to sideshowmonkey [2006-03-13 19:12:42 +0000 UTC]

That should read "F88," not AUG. I might be mistaken about that being the Aussie version's name. They might use the Steyr AUG that has the "AUG" name. All this licensing stuff makes things complicated.

You're Cthulu pic's practially done. I'm drawing it entirely in ink. My black Pilot Vball ran out of ink (it's favorite and best pen) and I don't have another, so I'm just using a regular pen. I might go over the lines with a wedge-tip Sharpie before scanning it. I just need to put some skeletons in there and a background. I gave Cthulu hulkish features and bulging veins in his arms. Would you like me to color it in my aged parchment style (recommended) or would you prefer a more standard color scheme (optional)?

As for Airsoft, do you have a shotgun? Does it fire multiple pellets? Is the MP5 full-auto? Since they use CO2, they'd be considered gas operated as opposed to inertia (aka recoil) operated. The real MP5 is inertia operated, uses a roller-lock delayed blowback mechanism, has a non-reciprocal charging handle, and has a diopter. Other HK designs have these same features. Does your Airsoft MP5 have a diopter or some other form of rear sight?

sideshowmonkey In reply to IggyHazard [2005-11-28 04:33:27 +0000 UTC]

I don't really know all the techs, I just buy them because they're badass and look great on film. The MP5 sub-machine gun can be seen in my webcam there, and the scope uses a red dot that is reflected on the glass of the scope, and its full auto electric.

I have a shotgun that has been discontinued and imported from Japan that ejects the shells when you pump them. The shells hold around 6-9 pellets and shoots them out like a buckshot.

I have a great all-metal parts Berretta gas blowback that is my fav handgun. Its nickel plated too.

I also have 3 HK USPs, 2 with silencers, a mac11 with laser sight, scope and silencer, an uzi, and I know have some others but I can't remember 'em, just basic guns.
