Description
I think this piece was inspired by my latest poll question.H.P. Lovecraft is one of my favorite writers and his works have been a big influence on me. I'm surprised it has taken me this long to get around to doing a piece in his honor, but now I finally have. This piece features a bunch of monsters influenced by his writings, in particualr...
Cthulhu, the Deep ones, Chthonians, Gugs, Moon-Beasts, Zoth-Ommog, the Great old ones and the Necronomicon!

No, I haven't. Is that a screenplay or something?

Actually, it was originaly, but it was instead done as a graphic novel.

Brilliant. I applaud you.
Out of curiosity, how long does it take you to whip up one of these masterpieces? It seems like you're cranking them out rather quickly (which is no small feat, I'd imagine).

Yea, I try to complete everything in one sitting, I hate to go back into a piece. I started drawing this one last night around midnight and finished up the drawing and scanning around 3am. Then I was too tired to finish it and colored on it for a couple hours today and finished it up. This one took a lot longer than my other pieces because I drew it at 11x17 and it has a lot more detail than other pieces.
Anymore, I'll spend 2 - 5 hours on a piece.

Wow. I used to spend days on a piece, and still not finish. I guess that's why I turned to writing instead. That's one thing I admire about your work, though--you're able to accomplish a high level of detail in such a seemingly short amount of time. It's no wonder you've found success in doing what you do.
I'm also a sucker for anything Lovecraft (and classic horror films in general). So, from one Lovecraft fan to another: what's your favorite story?

Thanks so much for the kind words!
I really like "Shadow Over Innsmouth", the whole fish-people thing is really great. I also got into "At the Mountains of Madness" and "the lurking Fear" even though it is kind of pulpy for some people, but I love that kind of stuff.

No problem, dude.
You know, I'd have to say "Innsmouth" is my favorite as well, though "Pickman's Model" would be a close second, with a third being "The Rats in the Walls." Now there's an idea for an image: capturing the shock on the poor narrator's face when he realizes Pickman's model is referenced from an actual photo.
And there's nothing wrong with pulpy stuff like that.

Oh yea! I forgot all about Pickman's model. That was the first Lovecraft I ever read.

"The Rats in the Walls" was the first Lovecraft story I ever read. To this day, it's the only piece of written horror that's ever given me nightmares.

never have i seen such a great interpretation of
hp's creative imagination, as they manifest into
all of his creations, surrounding him.
im only familiar with a bit of his readings, but seeing
this motivates me to stop procrastinating, and continue
read his other works as well.

Yea, I pretty much like all his works but I haven't read up too much on the man himself. Did he have a pretty interesting life?

Somewhat. Both his parents died in mental institutions I believe, and he was quite renown for the amount of letters he wrote to anyone who wanted to correspond with him. Quite a bit of a troubled guy too.

Have you ever seen a movie called 'In the Mouth of Madness'? Its an interesting movie (with no happy ending by the way) I think they got allot ideas from parts of it from HPL.

There's I can't believe you've never heard any of the words "Cthulhu" (or Ktulu), "Dagon", "Necronomicon", "Re-animator".
Films like John Carpenter's "The Thing" and "In the mouth Of Darkness", "Cast a deadly Spell", or "The Dunwich Horror" are influenced by him, as the whole RPG "Call OF Cthulhu", and too many games, novels, and even creations for DA.
