Aye, aye, Captain!

My submission for NATG XII, Day 30: "Draw a pony graduating / Draw a pony attaining their goal." The final day! And yes, I lied, I drew Dash again xD With the prompt, I just couldn't help myself! Of course many of the Mane 6 attain their goals throughout the show, but when I hear the phrase I most instantly think of Dash's journey to become a Wonderbolt. And to eventually become the next Wonderbolt Captain! I believe that was the implication at the end of the series. From this idea, unlike my last drawing I did on this as a celebration of The Finale, I just really wanted to get to draw Dashie actually in that Wonderbolt Captain uniform we see Spitfire in! I thought it'd be a blast to draw. But also mostly honestly I'd seen other art in the past of Dash in this uninform and sweet Celestia I think it looks so good on her! Even better than on Spitfire, in my opinion. I think because of her sky blue coat working really well with the deep navy uniform blue. So yeah, I really wanted to draw her in the suit! And, of course, being her smug self about becoming the Wonderbolt Captain, and I assume at how the uniform looks on her. Y'know, honestly I feel like there a criminally low amount of Dash in some kind of suit or uniform in general. I think it looks really great on her. A uniform makes the most sense, being a Wonderbolt and all, but just a general swanky suit or something I think would look awesome too. Haha, perhaps a drawing for another day!

Anyhoof, whew, was nice having two days to do our last submission! I got to draw Dash the first day, then shade, add a few details, and do the background on the second! So very nice to get a fuller background that I kind of wanted. Also, I never actually noticed before about the warning lights that are on the sides of the Wonderbolt runway. I guess I just never noticed them? Haha. Also went for a more stricter show-accurate style with things like the clouds, and also the rest of the background. It such a satisfyingly simple background style, but also the clouds particularly can be subtly detailed in some shots of them, especially in later seasons. I simplified a bit, but had fun with that. And, Tia, drawing Dash's uniform was a lot of fun, haha. All the pin details and such, though unfortunately most are obscured. I was trying to think what unique ones she might have that Spitfire wouldn't, but I couldn't really think of many. Except maybe some lightning bolts, or perhaps one's based on her cutie mark. But given where her hoof is on her suit, it kinda' ends up obscuring most of them anyhoof, and my assumption was some of them probably would just represent being the Wonderbolt Captain, so I mostly left them as-is. Still, was a lot of fun!

And big kudos to anyone who made it most or even all of the way through the event! Drawing once almost every single day is not an easy task and definitely one to be proud of. Quite the goal to have attained!
