This took about... forever.I've had the concept for years but only did it justice now, at least I hope so.
Anyways, she's supposed to be a deep water mermaid.
...But transparent-ish and scary BECAUSE OF REASONS [Maybe lack of light? Uh, it makes sense inside my head]

I love this, there's something truly beautiful to the crypticness of it. Reminds me of a Ghost Catfish. I love the Bio-luminescence and how the skeletal structure isn't overwhelming to the eye. Awesome job!

I find those dark tones effuse an aura of ethereality and mistyfication; and her body's translucency, wow such exquisite detail. I think what bewildered me the most is the bioluminescence gleaming from the tips of her hair though. This image is totally mesmerizing.

Abyssal creatures are amazing, and so alien looking- and considering how little of the ocean we've explored... who knows what other crazy things are down there.

The webbing creeped you out? lol you own creation. Looking at it again I get this Lovecraftian vibe from it; you think you were partly inspired by the stories?
I know someone who suffers from thalassophobia, fear of deep sea water and deep sea creatures; she would have a heart attack seen this, the image looks so alive.

The inspirating might very well have been Lovecraft, now that you mention it.

Very true; I haven't so far written creepy stuff, so I wouldn't know, but when I write something sad or deep with longing, it's because I'm channeling that particular emotion. Sorry, I forget the different arts have a similar creative process.

Those similarities are something I've noticed quite a bit- there was drawing first, then music, and now I'm trying to write as well. It's pretty interesting how similar some aspects of the process can be.

I'm pretty much in the dark- because it's poetry I guess, it rhymes and the number of syllables matches... But I know next to nothing about the specifics, I'm just winging it haha.
I upload some of it on a tumblr blog... that asks for a password because if someone from irl that I didn't want to know about it found it I'd flip out. I sent it to you via note in case you're curious.

The lighting is very well done, and you nailed the effect of translucency!
Great atmosphere, and the dirty/muddy greens used definitely give it a creepy deep sea feel.
