“Really?! How did I get the slacker as my lab partner for this project?”
“Really?! How did I get the do-good, brown-nosing nerd girl as my partner? At least I’ll get a good grade!”
“You’d better carry your weight! I’m not spending hours in the woods with you and coming back with a ‘B’!”
“Hey! I need an ‘A’ to pass this stupid class, so whatever!”
Raven and Gwen have been assigned a final project for their biology class. They are to catalog and classify fifty plant species from the forest area near the campus. The girls meet up one day after classes to head to the woods, still in their school uniforms.
“Hey, Raven. I’ve always wanted to ask you something. How do you get away without wearing the knee socks with this damn uniform?”
“Skin condition. Got a doctor’s note.”
“Oh.”
“I have a question for you! How do you get away with wearing all that makeup? It’s against the code.”
“Shameless flirting.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah. But I guess that I’m kinda thankful that I have to wear these socks. They cover up my tattoos.”
“But tattoos are…”
“Against the code. Yeah, I know. But if little miss observant hasn’t noticed, do you think the idiots in charge would? Plus…there’s the shameless flirting.”
Raven looks down and can indeed see the outside of several tattoos underneath Gwen’s socks. She also notices that she isn’t carrying anything to make notes in.
“Geez, Gwen. You didn’t even bring a notebook! How are you going to take notes?”
“We only have to turn in one report, right? I’ll help you carry your big, heavy notebook later, okay?!”
“Ugh. All day in the woods with you.”
“Yeah. Let’s just get this over with so I can get back to my boyfriend.”
