Description I had oral surgery a couple of days ago...  so what better thing to do during my recovery than some drawing exercises aww yiss.

I not-so-recently acquired this awesome book called: "Drawing Hands" by Victor Perard. I thought I'd try my HAND (groan) at sketching some of the over 1000 examples he featured. My sketches look slightly deformed in my opinion, but maybe it's because I've been staring at them too long. As well as the book, I also used my own hands as a reference for a couple of these sketches.

You can use these as a terrible guide if you like, but I take absolutely no credit for coming up with these hand poses (can you even copyright a hand pose I don't know). I highly recommend you check out the book: www.amazon.com/Drawing-Hands-I…

I remember hand sketches was some of the very first things I saw in your gallery! 8D
And how did the oral surgery go? I'm guessing it's teeth-related?

Oh wait really? I HAVE NO RECOLLECTION OF DRAWING A BUNCH OF HANDS BEFORE

This must have been so long ago wow

Ahaha and yeah I had the roof of my mouth sliced open since one of my canine teeth hadn't come out and needed to be exposed. Earlier in the week I also had a metal arch hooked up to my back teeth. I talk with a slight lisp now which is incredibly sexy right

I think those hand sketches were accompanied by some anatomy sketches too, you were drawing familiar sketches made famous by "the old masters of art" or something like that : P

around 2007-08... perhaps...

Good lord! "sliced open, canine teeth, exposed, metal arch! The biggest job I've ever had done om my teeth was fixing a hole! My dentist hates me except for that one time he made money off of me! 8D
Hell ye, slight lisp is super in at the moment!

As it is feet in real life freak me out.  They're like flattened hands!

I made the mistake of revealing this phobia to my mom when we were on a boat once because her bare foot was touching my leg and it bothered me.
...you could see the gears working in this evil woman's head and then suddenly she starts jabbing her feet at my bare legs and arms cackling while I squawked like a parrot and nearly fell off the boat!

Ohhh god nothing is worse than someone making fun of somebody's genuine phobia! Mine is emetophobia and whenever I say it people like to pretend they are about to throw up and then I just die a little bit inside. I try covering it up by laughing about it sometimes but yeah AHHHHH

I know a couple of people who have a phobia of feet, actually. I'm sorry that your mum felt the need to do that! D:

I know! Some people find it so amusing to mock our phobias.

I have a fear of driving and very little people seem to understand that it is a legitimate phobia with me.  It's not "Oh hey I'm a little nervous doing this".  No, it's "holyfuckican'thandlethis!" locks herself in car on side of the road and sobs uncontrollably while her mom tries to reason with her that forgetting her turn signal did NOT put her an inch away from a near death experience in a firey inferno.  Mother must also assure her that not every other driver on the road is judging her harshly for every tiny thing*

When I try to explain my problem to people I get "Well you know you'll have to drive eventually."
No shit Sherlock.  but guess what you can't use logic in an anxiety attack.  it's an irrational response that the one suffering it knows full well is irrational but can't stop.
