Description
Here's the first part of my fang walkthrough thingy.EDIT
---->I forgot to write this up there. Alginate is the best molder, but I have heard of people using soft, air dry clay like those from Crayola. I haven't tried this, but if you can't get any alginate give it a shot.
Sorry for the brevity. It's late and I have a lot of stuff to finish before Halloween.

Question? Ask. I don't bite hard.

I think I used white Sculpey because it was handy, but any non-drying clay should be fine. Thanks!

I don't have sculpey in my country.. would fimo be alright?
also, do you think i can make the teeth as a blob stright on my teeth with some thin plastic sheet covering, and then sand it smooth and sharp after it has dried?
do you think it will work?
i'd love to make a mold but i can't begin to think where i'm going to get all of these materials.
I need to make a whole mouth of fangs. ._.

Yes, Fimo is basically the same thing, so you're good.
As for going straight to your teeth, yes you can do that. People who do custom fangs professionally usually place a large blob over the tooth, let it set, then carve it into the fang. This takes a lot of trial and error until you get a shape that looks good. I haven't tried this because I found it difficult to work on myself. However, this is only good for single fangs, maybe doubles if you know what you are doing. A whole mouth of teeth would be very difficult this way. Having a copy of your teeth would be better. I purchased my alginate from ebay, the dental acrylic from an online special effects supplier, and my plaster from a local craft store.

Thank you for the informative answer! i did these fangs: [link] for a whole set, and i'll try your method for single teeth because these are too big to talk with
currently i used iclay for the teeth mold, i'll pour some plaster when it dries and try to go from there.
is fimo poisonous?

Those are very cool. Too bad you can't talk. It's hard to get perfect fits unless you use the pro method.
Only thing to beware with using the mold and plaster is this: sometimes the mold shrinks, making the fang you produce smaller than your teeth. I had this happen. It isn't a big deal with single fangs, they still fit me, but sometimes the tooth's gumline is exposed. Just keep this in mind.
Also, make sure you use a hard plaster, not just plaster of Paris. That is too soft.
I think Fimo is non-toxic, but I wouldn't put it in my mouth.

I really hope to get to try this out at some point. I don't think it's in my budget at the moment, but you've made a pretty straight forward tutorial. Thank you so much!

good tutorial. alginate is good for the initial teeth impression but you'll get a better result using silicone for the other one and wax to sculpt the teeth. more expensive tho.

Yes, I've heard of using silicone. It lasts longer, doesn't it?
