Description Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit's PUCK!!!

OMGBBQ I LOVE GARGOYLES SO MUCH!! Seriously, it's like my favorite thing EVER, ever since the show came out!!! I am currently rewatching it, and reading the new comics and having the guts to for once try doing some fanart and fdsaovncpyfuianfduaip!!!

ANNNNYYYWAYS... this picture was a request in an art trade for my friend Anna. I wanted to make the picture extra special, since Anna is a super cool gal and I never have done her a pic before!

When painting this, I referenced a picture in the Batman: Animated Series artbook of an alleyway. It doesn't look much like the style of the picture, but it helped me get a bit more texture in there I think. Hm... I'll have to try more in the future.

hahahah, perfect?? you give me too much credit! Actually, I used a picture as reference for the lighting - in the Batman cartoon (not the new one, but the other) the background art had a lot of city lighting... from below!! (a concept I never would have thought of!!) so I took that Idea and tried to add color to my lighting... and yeah! I am so glad you like it!! I hope to do more of this kind of work in the future.

Kick ass! Puck is one of my fave characters on the show (which is sad because he only appears in 5 episodes (4 if you don't count the 3rd season....I'm such a nerd...)). You totally captured his personality here and the pose is really great-- you're really pushing yourself more. I love how the hair is all floaty too, it adds to the composition. Mischievous expression and underlight make it even better. The only critique I have is about the BG (which isn't NEARLY as important as the character so it's hardly an issue), it's a bit dark. It could just be my monitor though. Even if you added a little more highlight under the roof, maybe that would help? I'm not sure, it;s a tricky one cuz you want the darkness.

In any case, awesome work. Here's to all of us pushing ourselves to the artistic max this summer!

Yeah, I thought the BG came out dark too... I think a lot of it is one of my usual problems: overworking things until they are muddy. But I agree with you, and I'll see if I can't touch it up a bit!!

Maybe if you added some light like you did with that Western piece... the one with the 3 cowboys, not the main street one. Maybe if you made it like "turning into night", from twilight to night sort of thing? then you'd just need to add a little light at the bottom of the sky or something..... :insert thinking emoticon here because I don't know them like you do:
