Working on - manes and tails, color change, wings, smudging, water.
Time period - lots of hours...
Program - Gimp 2.6
Layers - 40.
Other - I hand drew the mane and tail again...I think it looks better this time around. No tablet. *wishes she could afford one...*
Feedback - could you please critique? If you don't have time, that's fine. I'm getting better at manes and tails. ^_^

~ Hmm.. Now I think you've been doing Photo-manips longer than me. So it's feels awkward giving a critique on this. xD
~ Nice work on blending the wings, but be careful where you put them, if it were me, they would have been a little lower on the horse. But that's just me.
~ Lovely mane and tail, but you need to give it more.. freedom, I guess. Try to get it flowing since the horse is.. sliding to a stop ? So stray strands of hair about the place would help give it a more realistic touch.

~ Got it ! You're missing a shadow/reflection under the horse. Try shading under the hooves to make it look like it's feet touch the bottom.

Haha, I've been doing them for awhile, but I'm experimenting so I want to know what everybody thinks. I'm trying to find my 'style' for manes and tails, like I have for everything else. lol. And actually, you give really great critiques.
I've always been a fan of higher wings, just like the wings on a bird are on the very top of its back. But then again, that's a personal preferance, everybody does theirs a little differently and in a different spot.
Yea, I know it needs a little more freedom...but I wanted to see if I could actually MAKE a mane before I tried adding freedom to it. lol.
