Description Sebastian Michaelis. Gah, what is there to say really? I am really proud of how this one came out. Despite the fact it's a quarter of the size of the giant Ciel, it's to date the most challenging piece I've tackled. The shading is very detailed.

This is also the last piece I completed before my husband suddenly passed away and thus has some very special meaning to me.

It's a little over 2' square and uses 6 different colors. It was crocheted with an F hook and took just shy of a month to complete. This is also the first piece to have border that was not black. I think the red on the edge helps the red in the eyes pop. Once again as with most of my projects, the eyes were my favorite part.

Wow, that is beautiful.   I'm a cross stitcher myself and have a Kuro related piece in the planning stages so I can totally appreciate the kind of work that goes into a piece like this.  Also my condolences for the death of your husband, I hope you are doing well and have lots of support.

Thank you kindly!!! Ooh cross stitch! Some really beautiful things can be done with cross stitch. I've never mastered it myself, but as a fellow fiber artist I know what kind of time and effort foes into a piece like that.

Thank you very much for the supportive words. I'm doing well considering the circumstances. I have good people around me, and of course my art. Come by and let me know when you start your Kuro piece?

I'm working on a Ronald currently.

I'll definately let you know when I start, although I'm working on two other pieces at the moment, and cross stitch can take AGES so I don't think it will be for a while yet.  I could just start and have 3 projects on the go, but prior experience tells me it will be chaos.  LOL
I look forward to seeing Ronald when you finish.

I know the feeling. I try and keep things down to one project at a time. It doesn't always work, but I try.

So beautiful! I like the shading especially on the distant part of his face and how it forms the nose, because it's detailed enough and not more that it needs to be. For me it's always hard not to make something too detailed. I love your choice of reference pics for both Ciel and Sebastian so much. And in your interpretation their expressions are so special.. and soft maybe.

I'm so sorry to hear about what happened. I'm worried about you( Take care of yourself. I hope that your art helps you though a little at this time.

Thank you very kindly, both for the lovely words about my art, and for the personal support. I'm doing my best to take care of myself and surrounding myself with good people. I've got several more pieces patterned and ready to go, so I will at least have art to carry me through everything going on.

I'm thinking about opening up commissions after the new year.

The shading is really amazing and detailed.

What does the 2' stand for? 2 foot? Anyway, it looks really big and impressive!

Thank you so much! I'm very proud of the shading on this one.

Yes, that is 2 feet across. It's pretty much a square. So, not nearly as big as the giant Ciel but way more detailed. I enjoyed the piece very much.

Yuki87 In reply to Silverwing26 [2013-12-17 09:27:52 +0000 UTC]

You can be, it is really fantastic!

Wow, that is big. Do you hang it up on a wall?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silverwing26 In reply to Yuki87 [2013-12-22 23:26:32 +0000 UTC]

It isn't on the wall yet, but that is the intended place. The big Ciel is about 4 feet across so while I want to put that on the wall, it also looks good on the bed.

The 2 foot ones though, make great wall hanging sizes.

Silverwing26 In reply to Yuki87 [2013-12-23 19:30:09 +0000 UTC]

He really does. I have plans to make a queen size blanket. I'm just not sure when that will happen though. I had planned to do a bunch of the squares like this one and then attach them together. I'll need to see. My inspiration for larger projects has dwindled a bit with circumstances being what they are.

So one thing at a time right now. Smaller projects like the new Ronald for my etsy shop, and then commissions maybe and see what strikes my fancy in between.

Yuki87 In reply to Silverwing26 [2013-12-24 11:28:46 +0000 UTC]

I see. But maybe it's a good idea to start with smaller projects. Even though I consider the Ronald project not really small but maybe it's just me. Anyway, he looks really amazing, I just saw the 30% image!

Silverwing26 In reply to Yuki87 [2013-12-24 15:07:25 +0000 UTC]

You have a point. It's a matter of perspective. The Ronald and the previous Sebastian are roughly 1/4 the size of the BIG Ciel. So that is what I mean when I say smaller. I can take my time and easily complete a 'smaller' piece in about 4 weeks. The larger ones take 8-12 weeks if I hustle.

Thank you so very much! I'm really happy with how he is coming out!
