The idea was to imagine a dream using a part of some provided lyrics as inspiration. I used the bit that appears as text there.

This piece kind of came out of nowhere. I was feeling a bit like this, and just started experimenting with dark colours and by the time I knew where it was heading it had become my entry to the contest.

I love the textured paper, and how the 'things' coming from behind aren't the dominant object. The subtle textures on the hill are also a beautiful yet subtle touch. It reminds me of that scene from the Lion King with the pit of thorns (got a disney theme going on here today )

You're welcome. By them being in the background i think it does give the picture a more minimalistic feel. It gives you a chance to look at the subject without being distracted.

Great job! I love the darkness and how it seems to be pressuring him to the edge or simpling following him. Yet there's the light...waiting... Just how I see it.

Perhaps next time consider limiting the excess negative space on the bottom...If you brought the type up more and cropped some of the black off it wouldn't seem bottom heavy and wouldn't take some of the impact away from the other darkness in the piece.
