I think the background sets off the figure nicely, I like how you incorporated the colors of the figure into it with the thin stripes of color
Excellent work on the face, the shadows and highlight details are fantastic, especially on the cheekbone, just beautiful
My only suggestion would be maybe a bit more detail on the hair, as that part seems to blend in with the background...I think it just needs a bit more highlighting
Lovely work!

Striking portrait. I'm curious what you mean by coloured in Corel Painter with acrylic and oil? Isn't Corel a digital paint program, not 'traditional' physical paint on canvas?

Hello Barrie. Thanks for feed back.
Corel Painter is a digital paint program which offers a lot of brushes and pencils. Acrylic and oil are categories of brushes in Painter. But it's not exactly the same as painting with traditional acrylic and oil.

I guess I was thrown by this being in the traditional category rather than digital. Barrie

yes same here, I think this has been wrongly categorised.

i love the actual face, but i think the background should be a little different, not to detract it by adding crap, but to give it something extra!

Thanks for your feed back. I surely agree but don't know how to give the background that something extra. Do you have any suggestions?

i might suggest just incorporating the colors of the skin and shirt to the background. like a diluted reflection you get when you look at shiny paper or plastic.

Thank you. I was not happy with the background either, and just tried to make it more interesting. It is much better now, don't you think?
