Oooh. Oh man. This was a great page. That look into Arcis and her mentality...it is a thought that is a bit haunting, and yet totally realistic given Felarya's effect on aging. To be fair to her though, if she reached Negav she wouldn't necessarily have to kill herself either though- just going off world from the gates near there and she could age normally again....but at the same time, also brings the curse of finding more things to do which she may not want to age for heh. Quite a predicament there. But really, the thought of it for anyone in the wild is actual reality- though most don't ever face it due to the survival focus needed and just living in the moment of each day.
Adds a good bit to her with this development of why she's always looking for 'more'...but I'm curious how far this will go. By her own logic, why does she chase bigger and bigger things if an end is possible to finding them and all she is doing is putting off the 'inevitable' again...is she scared of facing that truth? Does she want something to challenge her way of thinking? Or has she just not thought on that part of it among other poissibilities... Hard to say, but very intrigued by her and the things going on here.

Thank you! Yes you're right, it doesn't look like Arcis is currently aware of a world beyond Felarya though... But indeed, even going offworld would be just a bit more killing time for her. And I'm delighted that you've been thinking about her logic and what continues to drive her! I hope to explore than more soon

Tonal whiplash is a favorite of mine, as a matter of fact!
This is a really good page! Artistically fabulous, as per usual for you, with marvelously expressive characters. But this one is especially fascinating in that we get a little deeper insight into Arcis. I really like the exploration of Felarya's immortality factor: Arcis is absolutely right, too. There may be no hard limit to anyone's lifespan, but statistically, no matter how tough/competent/giant you are, sooner or later you'll get unlucky enough for something to get you. Which is especially poignant in relation to Tarynn's luck situation.
Arcis's stance has me quite curious too. Enough that I went back through the whole comic to see if there's any direct mention of her age. Typically (in fiction) I associate that sort boredom/nihilism/weariness with everything with beings of considerable age, and since in Felarya she'd look the same at 25 and 2,500 . . . my suspicions are roused. Or perhaps she just has a egregiously short attention span.
In any case, this is fantastic and fascinating, and I'm (as always) looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.

Thinking about it, it does sound like a band name actually!
I appreciate your appraisal of my daft little comic Yes not many Felaryans get the luxury to consider such things, given its mostly quite a tooth and nail existence they eke out (especially in Tarynn's case.) And it's rude to ask a lady her age! So I'm not sure we'll be getting a straight answer from Arcis about that any time soon...

"there isnt anywhere bigger" haha Tarynn XD
lol it isnt often we see characters get into the whole "living eternally thing" usually people are just trying to survive, but it seems our little elf has managed to dodge enough danger in this world that shes actually considering "death by boredom as a possibility. gosh lol Tarynn is right to make that face. things just got dark in here.

I wanted to put in an addendum line where she pointed out that Negav was actually quite small to her but it didn't fit with the flow of the dialogue Thank you for the comment!

I must admit, I could see her outlook living in Felarya...still pretty dark though.

Yes it is an argument that certainly can be made given certain circumstances... But you are right, it is a dark thought!

Mhh interesting ! Somehow she's starting to remind me of Kanzaki urumi in the manga GTO ^^ Kanzaki starts of as a very spoiled princess type of character, looking very confident and bored because she is incredibly clever and a genius and think she has figured everything the world has to offer. So she thinks herself fearless - or at least that's the facade she displays - because she thinks she knows how everything works.
But of course that confidence is entirely shattered when she is confronted to events that are all to real and that she has no response for. Arcis with that last sentence.. i feel she is going to have a brush with reality that is going to change her outlook ^^
At any rate, very nice job again on that page and especially the expressions, so vivid I'm really curious to see what will happens next

pfff, what is death but a costume change when there is a whole hell/heaven to explore afterwards right?
In all seriousness though, yaaaaah, thats something that can come to mind when you deal with inmortality ... can be kinda scary if you think you will reach a point where you don't have anything new to do .

Haha admittedly in Felarya when certain denizens are able to pop back over the living realm for lunch death is not always the final frontier!

Arcis' little smile... She's no longer scornful, but suddenly more like a person it's possible to empathise with. Still totally spoilt and narrow-minded, though!

Duuuude shading on this page is awesome!
I also love Tarynn's reaction in the sixth panel.
She's spent so many years fighting tooth and nail
to survive that she can barely comprehend the thought
of suicide, especially over something so trivial. At least
that's how I perceive it.
Excellent character building!

There certainly is an argument for it in a world like Felarya where people can live indefinitely but (luckily?) we all have a ticking time clock, so I suppose it's not something we need to consider as much

I love it! Yeah, it's a bit dark, but it really gives Arcis a bit of depth. And soooo sets her apart from Tarynn. Not that she was in any danger of being placed in the category of being similar in the first place. And before I go about gushing about your excellent work on different perspectives, let me say that you did a nice job on Tarynn's expression in panel 6 and 7. You've totally changed her personality with just these two panels. She's showing a truly concerned, compassionate side that just hasn't shown before. Now where were we? Yes! Gushing about perspectives! Panel two has a really nice perspective - both in terms of Arcis' positioning, and showing the horizon in the middle of a forest. And the implications - off into the sunset, just as Arcis is casually discussing the same, is well done.

Jesus Christ, Acris! I know you don't care, but fuck!
Tarynn you may as well just dump her off here. You don't need that kind of negativity.
But I love the subtle change in background color from the first panel to the last. As things get darker and bleaker from Acris' 'speech', the environment feels it too.

Well this just took a complete 180 turn from lighthearted fun to deep legit issues that can arise in felarya. Not wanting to let the predators decide your fate. And if you can't find happiness in Felarya it's better to go on your own terms, even if by your own hand.
