Tarynn looks actually quite legitimately scary in that last panel- she may be frail thin and bones, but anyone with that look of determination and pushing through this much pain is something not to be messed with (and of course, thin as she may be, she IS still a giantess all the same!).  And that bird...looks quite content with what it's done.  Evil evil things! XD

She's a frail, scrawny, powerkeg of emotion that's for sure!

Hmmm, it would seem luck is not on the side of her rescue, here.  Her expression in the final panel appears to be one of determination, though I can't imagine how she could catch up to that bird now, even if she weren't burdened by all that bad luck.

Fabulious work on the dynamic action and expressions, as I've come to expect from you!  Can't wait to see how this goes from here!

Haha is it ever on her side?

Well I like to think in some circumstances Tarynn is simply too thick to give up even when a more clever person might have an idea of their own limitations!

Yeah I have a bad habit of trying to fit too much action into too few a panels  I'm always just too keen to get on with the story!

Thank you! Haha that bird has certainly earned its reward, just remains to be seen whether it gets to keep it or not!

Boi Tarynn going against “fate” Berserk style ;b because I know it’s not exactly fate but meh! She’s strong in the real way!

Certainly her neck is stronger than a vine at least We will have to see if she triumphs over fate!

I'm guessing we'll see a complete 180 of Arcis' views if she survives this... either that or she'll double down.

Did she piss off a luck god or something? That would certainly explain a lot.

Lady Luck and Tarynn had a parting of ways a long time ago!

Tarynn ProfileTarynn
Species: Elf of the Ayutayas Clan of the Aloes Tribe
Gender: Female
Age: 57
Height: 95' 2"
Hair: Dull pale green
Eyes: Aquamarine
Skin Color: Pale
Other characteristics: Wears a two piece with a sarong and a necklace. Wavy, damaged hair, with a varying number of ahoge at the front. Ears are stubby and more swept back than is typical for an elf
Background:
Tarynn was born to a perfectly normal elven family living in the northern part of Prayaga Island. The youngest of four, and the only girl, Tarynn was often unable or unwilling to participate in her elder brothers' rowdy activities and so became accustomed to occupying herself. She instead focused on exploring the strange world that is Prayaga Island, drawing the beautiful gardenesque scenery and describing it through poetry. With the world as her muse she tended to close herself off from other people, resulting in her having few

Oh snap! Tarynn sure is scrappy!  All those years of having to survive her bad luck should help her here! She used to being the under dog!

SimonLorimer In reply to DarkHourglass [2019-12-24 13:47:07 +0000 UTC]

Haha yes I think most people would call it a day after nearly getting garrotted by a vine, but Tarynn gets almost strangled regularly!

Poor Tarynn! Those talons look really sharp.

At least she's been spared additional injections of elf-venom. Even if she doesn't see it that way for now...

I doubt she'll see it as much of an improvement.

This is empirical evidence that there is literally no greater threat to Tarynn than herself.

Except maybe trees.

And things that hang around in trees.

Trees, birds and squirrels!

Kululu17 [2019-12-08 19:50:18 +0000 UTC]

The bird does seem to have a rather smug expression in panel 5. "Hah! Tiny elf is mine now. Get your own."

Excellent work all around! Lots of dramatic composition. And strangely bad luck. A nice touch to see Tarynn so determined in the final frame. Although one wonders if getting Arcis back would be worse luck than losing her.

I know there have been lots of studies into whether some animals can feel certain feelings (humour, loss, etc.) - I'd love to know if anyone has ever tried to see if animals can feel smug

Thank you mate! Yes Tarynn is resisting for now, but you're right to question to what end.
