Tarynn looks actually quite legitimately scary in that last panel- she may be frail thin and bones, but anyone with that look of determination and pushing through this much pain is something not to be messed with (and of course, thin as she may be, she IS still a giantess all the same!). And that bird...looks quite content with what it's done. Evil evil things! XD

Hmmm, it would seem luck is not on the side of her rescue, here. Her expression in the final panel appears to be one of determination, though I can't imagine how she could catch up to that bird now, even if she weren't burdened by all that bad luck.
Fabulious work on the dynamic action and expressions, as I've come to expect from you! Can't wait to see how this goes from here!

Tarynn was born to a perfectly normal elven family living in the northern part of Prayaga Island. The youngest of four, and the only girl, Tarynn was often unable or unwilling to participate in her elder brothers' rowdy activities and so became accustomed to occupying herself. She instead focused on exploring the strange world that is Prayaga Island, drawing the beautiful gardenesque scenery and describing it through poetry. Excellent work all around! Lots of dramatic composition. And strangely bad luck. A nice touch to see Tarynn so determined in the final frame. Although one wonders if getting Arcis back would be worse luck than losing her.

I know there have been lots of studies into whether some animals can feel certain feelings (humour, loss, etc.) - I'd love to know if anyone has ever tried to see if animals can feel smug
