Description
Sans is numb to the problems of reality, but he's not made of stone.I get the itch to draw crying Sans like everyone else does, but I don't care much for genocide angst. So instead I force feed him Nicholas Sparks movies and other sad things, because let's be real, the majority of his time on the surface would just be watching Netflix.
When he gets weepy watching movies around other people, he becomes the kind of asshole who cracks jokes through the most serious/saddest moments. He's permabanned from watching Charlie St. Cloud with Papyrus ever again.
But if he's alone and has no audience, he'll gross sob into the dog. The dog doesn't seem to mind. :U

I'm just surprised that I'm the only one who's mentioned Dumbo and Grave of the Fireflies. I haven't seen the latter, but DAMN is Dumbo the most depressing Disney movie I've seen. I've only seen bits and pieces of Marley and Me, but I only thought it was okay.

The only movie that successfully made me cry the first time I saw it was Up with the first ten minute montage. I have a whole slew of other sad movies that I like, like Guilmerro del Torro's "El Orfanato" and the Korean horror film "A Tale of Two sisters." I mostly watch horror movies because I find most dramas boring. Who do you think would cry harder at a sad movie? Sans or Papyrus? My money is DEFINITELY on Papyrus.

I also feel like Papyrus would be the most easily frightened at horror films. Sans would probably not be shaken in the slightest, nor would Undyne (but she'd immensely enjoy them). And yes, Up is one of my favorite movies. Michael Giaccino composed the score for it, and he's a brilliant composer in my opinion. Sorry if this comment meandered to so many different topics all at once.Β

Like imagine Sans, Paps ,Undyne and Alphys watching a thriller or something (like i mean a movie classified as βhorrorβ but not that scary)Β
Paps being scared to death, sans making puns about everything on screen, Undyne confused with his reaction(cause it ainβt that scary) and Alphys actually trying to watch the movieΒ

Still, my top spot for most depressing Disney movie goes to Dumbo. Despite the fact that no one actually dies, Dumbo's life is almost literally one disaster from another SINCE HE WAS FUCKING BORNΒ Β

Exactly. Despite nobody dying in Dumbo, Dumbo is easily the most depressing Disney movie that I've ever encountered. That speech that the mouse makes to the crows is so gut wrenching.

Do you think Sans or Papyrus would cry at that movie? I think Papyrus would cry at any sad movie and get easily frightened at scary ones because I feel like Papyrus, despite his brash nature and bravado, is pretty sensitive.

Β I agree. I don't know if Sans would cry at Dumbo, but I think he would get very weepy at "Grave of the Fireflies" because it deals with the unconditional love of siblings and family tragedies. As far as Papyrus goes for horror movies, I feel like "The Babadook" would give him nightmares for at least a month.

I haven't seen that movie, but I know it's goddamn depressing. I've seen Rabbit Hole too, which is also seriously sad. I normally don't watch heavy dramas, and the only movie that successfully made me cry the first time I saw it was Up, with, of course, the 10 minute montage of Carl and Ellie's marriage. The saddest movies I've seen are Up, Dumbo, Plague Dogs, and The Hunt (which is a Danish film about a man wrongfully accused of pedophilia). Of those sad movies, I like Dumbo the most, and I think it's the saddest of the bunch despite its happy ending. How can anyone watch that movie without getting depressed at the "Baby of Mine" scene??

Personally, Nicholas Sparks movies are pretty stupid. If you want to force feed someone anything depressing, I personally like these:
Up (especially the first 10 minutes)
Toy Story 3 (all of it)
The Hunt (all of it; it's a great foreign film)
The season finales of Bojack Horseman
Bambi (especially with his mom dying)
Terms of Endearment (probably, but I haven't seen it)
Inside Out (that scene where Riley comes home in tears)
Any movie with a dog in it (you referenced Marley and Me nicely here)
Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl (it's somewhat of a comedy, but the ending is really sad)
Pan's Labyrinth (the ending especially)
The Orphanage/El Orfanato (by the same director of Pan's Labrinth. One of the most depressing horror movies ever made)
A Tale of Two Sisters (a Korean horror film which also has the most depressing ending ever)
ALL of Grave of the Fireflies (I can't believe I forgot to add that one in earlier)
There are definitely more out there, but I can't think of any more alternatives because I'm not the kind of person who enjoys heavy dramas (except for horror films). Also, thank God you're not into the genocide angst. Every serious picture I see of Sans is of him holding Papyrus's scarf and being like, "NO OMFG HUMAN WHY DID YOU DO THIS etc." Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a lot of those pictures, but Goddammit, do you have to do it ALL the time?! Β

Never forget Hachi: A Dog's Tale. I never even managed to make it past it's trailer without tearing up, let alone the movie itself.
Having seen The Orphanage, yeah that's crazy depressing and sad, only downside is that it's completely in Spanish.

Rage-o-rama In reply to jaxonnobles [2017-10-04 21:43:01 +0000 UTC]
I've never seen Hachi: A Dog's Tale, but dog movies are purposefully sentimental in excess and, I feel like, artificially tug at your heartstrings most of the time. I don't really like most dog movies for that reason because, let's face it, ALL dogs in dog movies die, and it's the same boring formula every single time. As for The Orphanage, that's one of my favorite movies, and I also love the Korean horror film A Tale of Two Sisters, which is equally, if not more, depressing.Β
On a more Undertale-like note, how easily do you think Papyrus would cry at sad movies or be scared by horror films? I'd say VERY easilyΒ Β
