Description Yes, it's a diesel. And from CLCo. I was wondering how a design engineer from Brookville would be able to manage starting a brand new company building steam locomotives completely from scratch, researching ways to make them more efficient and have a practical design for North American railroads. Let alone build the things!

I figured the best way for me to get into the locomotive building industry will be to start out as a rebuilder of diesels. There's always a need of rebuilds, and some smaller lines don't have the capability to do it themself. I could start doing complete rebuilds like some companies do where only the frame and trucks are re-used. Then I could expand into producing new locomotives. And using the diesels to build up funds for it, finally make new steam.

I was thinking yesterday about how I want to rebuild part of the old Cumberland Valley railroad here in Pennsylvania, and it got me thinking about an old geep as motive power, but then I figured those GP7s and GP9s can't last forever, until then we'll be rebuilding other stuff like this GP60, which will probably already be secondhand shortline power by that time anyway. So CLCo took in several of these GP60s, gave them new cabs and short hoods, removed the turbochargers to give them a more acceptable rating for a shortline, rerouted the exhaust system to be more efficient with the de-turbo'd engine, and removed a radiator fan because it now needs less cooling.

Paint scheme yet to be determined. Who wants to bet it'll have Reading and WM influence? XD

so what would these unit be rated, 3800 HP, if it suppose to be a redesigned GP60? looks like a fictional version of a GE BQ23-7, witch i think they were made to be a locomotive and caboose at the same time for the train crew.

Probably more like 2000-2400 HP, made into something along the lines of a GP40-2 -> GP38-3 rebuild.

so your saying,if these engines exsist for real, their not a mainline engine, like AC6000CW's or SD40-2's or other type of new or old mainline diesel, more like a branchline or yard engine? i myself really suck sometimes telling if they are mainline road units or branchline services or what is all if i sound like i'm being rude. have you by the way, just out of curiousity, seen unstoppable or heard of CSX 8888 at all?

INSTEAD OF JUST 'GP60'

HOW ABOUT

'GP60R-2'

R = REBUILD

-2 = SECOND GENERATION OF GP60s

I didn't name it cause I didn't know what horsepower would be. The name would be RL(hp)B.
