Description
Drawings for some models I want to build eventually. They'll start as Athearn Blue Box GP38-2s and will get at least part of the Cannon treatment (depending on how much money I want to sink into them!)IM's first order of GP38-2s, 2000-2014 were equipped with dual control stands, explaining the extended cab fronts. Dual plows for operation in either direction. Of course the assorted other details are mostly self-explanitory. Yes, that's a nose bell.
These GP38-2s were IM's last locomotives with dual control stands. Two more orders of GP38-2 were placed, 2015-2034 and 2035-2064 for a total of 65 locomotives.

The brown accents look excellent. (Reminds me in a way of the very early UP streamliner schemes. ) I like the lettering, too... more schemes need to be this conservative!
Now... dual control stands means theres a control stand at the rear fireman's corner of the cab, right? Why/where did the cab need to be extended?

The front has to be extended for the linkage between the throttle or something... not quite sure. That or just to fit the extra stand comfortably.
And yeah, I think the early UP scheme had just a little to do with this way back when I first made the scheme. I can't be too sure now though as that was several years ago.
