Wow, this is such dynamic piece! One of better depictions of cataphracts I have ever seen once again, well done!

Gorgeous! I am not into historic military but you seem to have put a lot of research in the uniforms. And the scene has a dramatic baroque painting feel to it also.

The pose and the costuming and the decoration here are not quite up to Osprey in historic illustration, but it seems you didn't have technical illustration in mind. Β  It seems to me like a superior storybook illustration from a contemporary publication of the legend of Rustem and Sohrab.

I take an information about byzantine armors and such, from the byzantine military tractats and images ( like book miniatures, icons, and frescos). Sounds cool maybe, but actually, this still gives a lot space for an interpretation maneuver and an artists imagination. This period images are few in numbers; the book miniatures are too stylised; icons and frescos we have, are mostly for the later ages, and the books are writes many things we can't see at images at all. So, I wonder how all of these things might looks like in more realistic view, and just make a few artistic suggestions.
