Description
Here's my version of the influence map meme.
1. Al Hirschfeld - My biggest influence to my current and favorite artist. Ultra simplified curvy line work.
2. Frida Khalo - It was the chapter we did on her work in junior high that started my obsession with self portraits.
3. Pascal Campion - His work is a recent find. He has a mastery of lighting that I'm slowly trying to incorporate.
4. Michelangelo - My big influence when I sculpted more. Made me focus on anatomy and form in drawing as well.
5. Bruce Timm - Never set out to mimic his style, but growing up watching many of his cartoons it just kind of leaked in.
6. Alex Ross - His work speaks for itself really.
7. Michael Turner - I loved his quality of lifework, detailed anatomy, and elegant figures.
8. Josh "Shag" Agle - Another huge influence to my work. Color palette, shapes, composition, storytelling in his scenes...
9. Joost Schmidt - Seeing this image single handedly inspired me to ad geometry and design to my illustrations.
10. Looney Tunes - Drawing these characters over and over again growing up ingrained the style in me.
11. Walt Disney - Same as above...note I used the 90's logo.
12. Brent Lynch - I really like the duality and story telling in his work. It often prompts me to make multiple versions.
13. Genndy Tartakovsky - The designs of his Cartoon are amazing. The simplicity, the colors, and the contrast.
