Shiny Shiny Paint with a Jet Black Stack.

i mentioned in an edit on my Original James  Post that i had a new design lined up for James, and this is it

BACKSTORY
he's a fictional variant of the MSWJR's L Class 4-4-0, made into a 2-6-0, in-universe the reason for this is the MSWJR were planning on rebuilding the L class into a 2-6-0, as they had thought it would increase the power of the locomotive, it's unknown how successful this design was, as the next year, no such rebuilds were planned, and James was left the only engine of this type, his uniqueness went to his smokebox, and he became very vain, sometime in 1921 he was transferred from the MSWJR into one of the Joint Railway's main operators, the Midland Railway, James worked for the midland railway for 2 years before being absorbed into the LMS, whereas the rest of the engines from the MSWJR got absorbed into the Great Western. later that year, the LMS found James to be surplus to requirements, and as such more than happily sold him to the north western railway, sending him on a goods train bound for Sodor. unfortunately James's brakes failed en-route, and he crashed into a field on Sodor's mainline, being later rescued by north western's No. 1, the story from this point on is more or less the same way it went in the railway series.

The Out-of-universe reason that James isn't a class 28 is just down to the fact i never really fully liked the way James looked as a 28, he always looked a bit too tall and thin for my liking, compared to the original illustrations. so after searching around a bit i stumbled across the MSWJR L Class, one thing lead to another and my interpretation of James was born, i wasn't really able to squeeze in his Wartime black livery but that's not too big a loss because it's just unlined black with a white number five on his tender. maybe i'll compile all the engines in wartime black and post them on their own.
