Description I haven't done anything in quite a while and have been having a real urge to lately, so here I am. I'm a bit rusty so it took me a few hours, but I like it. It's nothing fancy, just a simple planetary system. I tried something new for the starfield. Let me know what you think.

Cool. I have a few things like this, but I've never mixed rendered a sun, moon, and planet.

It takes practice. I think I've come a long way since this piece. Just keep making them and you'll find yourself improving. Good luck!

Thanks! I just posted a new one since then. Nothing special. If you check my gallery, you'll see I have a planet. Much harder to make than a star.

You know what I did to improve (aside from just practicing)? I looked up tutorials. There are some really great, easy to follow tutorials on here. Just something to consider. My work improved almost overnight when I started discovering tutorials for planets, stars, gas giants, etc.

I suppose my next step would be gas giants.

The dark side of the large planet should be much darker than it is. And you shouldn't be able to see the atmosphere on the dark side of both planets, considering the angle of the sun and all.

Not commonly.

Starfield is good, the blue coloring portions kinda screw up the starfield, though. And the atmosphere of the planet is showing on the shadowed part of the planet. I like the idea with the orange, though, its nice and subtle.

The trick is using images of soap suds. Play with the levels and not only do they look like stars, they add subtle color, too. It's a new thing, so I have to play with it a bit.
