Description

While five Contract Riders found themselves at the heart of the "Golgom Crisis" , they were far from alone. Elysium City is home to dozens of Contract Riders who protect it from Geister attacks, and the field is far more competitive than in the rural Asphodel region .

Notable among the Contract Riders of Elysium were a group who, in the face of the Golgom occupation of the city, united against the villains as a "Rider Resistance". These heroes include:

  • Tanya Rhodes — Contract Rider Titan . A parahuman wrestler employed by Pankratos Professional Wrestling, who acts as the tag team partner and Double Rider to her fellow Pankratos Rider, Contract Rider Heracles. A noted social media personality, Tanya maintains a dedicated "fitspo" feed, and presents a relentlessly positive and motivational attitude to her fans.
Titan is a Biorider who uses the DNA of a Goliath beetle to transform, granting her great strength and resilience.
    Henshin! Change Goliath!
  • Diomidis “Dio” Kotsonaros — Contract Rider Heracles. Titan's fellow wrestler and Double Rider, Dio is boisterous and can be hot-headed at times, but is also a thoughtful and well-read man with a strong sense of justice. Outside of his work, Dio is gym buddies with Sean Irons , and since the beginning of the Golgom Crisis he has formed a close relationship with Roger Chaumet .
Heracles is a Roborider, with extensive cybernetic augmentations and battle armor modeled on a Hercules beetle. When he was selected by Pankratos to partner with Titan, his belt and armor were modified to more closely match hers for "brand synergy".
    Henshin! Change Hercules!
  • Tyler Tyler Tyler — Contract Rider Goo. A teenage streamer employed by the Adonis corporation to show off their technology, Tyler does very little actual Contract Riding, instead using his Rider suit to enhance his reaction times and perception while streaming video games. Despite this, Tyler idolises his fellow Adonis representative Contract Rider Papillon , and feels some insecurity over not being a "real" Contract Rider.
Goo's name comes from the viscous, neon green "gamer goo" that lines his Roborider suit and cushions his cybernetic hard-points. As well as acting as a coolant and insulation for the technology in the suit, Tyler can use it to manifest tools and weaponry for use in battle. It smells like Mountain Dew and is generally very upsetting.
Game on! Squish! Stream! Overflow! Gamer in Goo!
  • Judy Brice — Contract Rider Jester . A Rider known for her exaggerated and often-bizarre online presence, Jester maintains an intensely irony-poisoned online image — something that helps to cover up the fact that she's actually very private about her civilian life.
Jester's Roborider system interfaces with her prosthetic limbs, which she can extend to absurd lengths at will; in combat she combines this with an acrobatic fighting style to outmaneuver and confound her opponents.
    Henshin! Nandemo dekiru!
  • Kinosuke Haku — Contract Rider Dive. A young Rider who works to protect Elysium City's harbor, Kinosuke looks up to the Common Rider as an inspiration, and acts as something of an apprentice to the harbor's senior defender, Contract Rider Om3ga .
The Dive System supplements Roborider technology capable of operating deep underwater with a hard-light "ring" around his chest; his default ring, Speed Rescue, can be used to immobilise Geisters and retrieve stranded civilians.
Start your turbines! Dive! Speed Rescue!
  • Mairéad Loughlan — Contract Rider Coven. Originally from the rural Asphodel region, Mairéad found success as a Rider when she moved into Elysium City. Though injuries from fighting Geisters ended her Rider career, she was able to parlay her career into running the traditional Irish pub Magillicuddy's, the previous owner having let her operate out of the building's panic room as Coven after she saved his life. Mairéad would provide similar support and friendship to Contract Rider Dolmen after he moved to Elysium, providing an island of stability in his dreary and miserable life.
In her Rider days, Mairéad used a Gene Driver (a mass-produced Biorider system), with a Gene Vial containing the DNA of crows and other corvids. This vial would later be used by Parker Prophet, first to become Bio-Rider Wild , and then to create Java Triumph .
    Transgenesis! [sound of crows screeching]
  • Yoh Kagemori — Contract Rider Tanuki . The protector of the Humbaba Forest, Elysium's only major forested area, Kagemori is a dedicated environmentalist who splits his time between his work as a forest ranger and educating visitors on conservation efforts in the dome. Yoh Kagemori is in fact the second user of the Tanuki identity, having inherited it from his father; the senior Kagemori was a contemporary to Riders such as Fleur, Om3ga and Ringo , but retired from the role when Yoh was young.
A Biorider using raccoon dog DNA, Tanuki seems to have a form of "sixth sense" that alerts him to disturbances in the forest; this ability is unexplained, and does not have a clear origin in his Rider system.
Take only memories! Leave only footprints! Tanuki!
  • Robin Combs — Contract Rider MeDX. A Contract Rider who focuses more on emergency response and medical treatment than on fighting Geisters, using their enhancements to rescue those caught in the path of Geister attacks and to get them to safety. Less flashy than other Riders who rely on self-promotion and publicity to do their work, Combs prefers to let their work speak for itself.
MeDX's Roborider enhancements grant them great speed and mobility needed to carry out rescue operations. While they are mostly oriented towards medical treatment, MeDX is capable of fighting when they need to, using electroshock pads in their gloves to take down their foes.
    Primum non nocere! MeDX!
  • Felicity Blaustein — Contract Rider Neko. A Rider who, like Contract Rider Papillon, streams her fights online. Though she maintains a cutesy "catgirl" image, this is backed up by her being utterly immune to Online Bullshit; she gives short shrift to anyone who oversteps her boundaries, and any harrassers and internet freaks are dealt with in a public and uncompromising fashion.
The Maneki Driver is a Biorider system supplemented with Mahourider technology to play up the image of a "magical girl". Before the belt can be used, an activation key in the shape of a koban coin must be inserted into the cat's paw.
Maneki! Mabushii! Lucky! Contract Rider Neko! Nya~!
  • Joanna Joplin — Contract Rider Ragtime. A former Rider and musician who worked at the Elysium city docks. A salt-of-the-earth type who maintained a good relationship with her community, Ragtime is now mostly retired, but still plays shows at local venues and bars; however, the coming of the Golgom crisis saw her put her belt back on to help the younger heroes deal with it.
Ragtime's Roborider form can use sonic bursts to distract and disorient Geisters, while also using music to keep people's spirits up when things get tough.
    [Ragtime musical sting]

So, all these guys are NPCs from the Contract Riders TTRPG campaign. Some were "sincerely" designed as concepts for Riders that might exist in this setting, while others originated as jokes before proving to have more substance than one might expect —our GM managed to inject both Goo (a character called "Tyler Tyler Tyler" designed as a joke about Gamer Goo and Game Fuel making fun of obnoxious Minecraft streamers) and Dive ("what if instead of a car Kamen Rider Drive had a boat") with genuine pathos and made them into compelling characters.

Titan, Goo, Tanuki, Jester, Neko and Ragtime were designed by Speed_Freak01 . Heracles was designed by SonataWaves . Dive, MeDX and Coven were designed by me. All these characters were played by RedlineSSB .

Templates, of course, by Taiko554 .
