I thought I'd submit the Shiny Charizard, only because it's beautiful!Yes, I built two of them - how could I resist building the shiny when it wears my colours?

Yeah, completely hollow.
It took me so long to get the unfold just right, but I think it turned out pretty good in the end.

Thank you
No, I use 120gsm paper for the body, and 200gsm for the wings.

Sure you could! All you need is some good glue and some decent paper, and a little patience

Ah, well, that's where you're in luck, because there is very little paper folding in papercraft

Thank you.
I honestly can't say. We are trying to make all 649 pokemon, but it will take some time.

one question, did you print this whith a laster or ink jet? because if it was a laser let you did a awesome job!

Skele-kitty In reply to dodoman75 [2011-01-11 20:45:34 +0000 UTC]
LOL! No, I don't like laser printers for papercraft - the ink cracks and lifts off, and it always ends in tears! I have a old ink jet, and it does the job perfectly - I highly recommend ink/bubble jet printers, and they are so cheap now!

I think just the same! so I star printing my crafts whith my inkjet! but poor frosslass is still printed by the big laser jet!

Did you have to cover a lot of white lines with this build? I never built with 120gsm paper so I don't know how bad the white line problem is
Would it be worth it to buy a pack of 120gsm paper just for Charizard? Does the ink from an ink jet printer still warp with water even on thicker paper? =o Sorry for all the questions but switching from 80 to 120gsm is really a hard thing for me and my parent's wallet xD
Amazing build btw ^^

I rarely have issues with white lines, as I am sure you've seen. 120gsm is still considered printer paper since it is not thick enough to be cardstock. I would highly recomend purchasing 120gsm, especially since you seem to love making papercraft - not only is it easier to build with, your models will be more robust and more durable.
The ink from an inkjet printer will not warp the 120gsm - let it dry - like 80gsm does, because it is thicker and heavier. And although a ream of 120gsm may be 2-3 times more expensive than a ream of 80gsm, you'll see the difference immediately and you'll wonder why you didn't use it sooner!

I'll have to bug my parents some more about better paper then!
But now I have to decide to remake everything I've already made or not and if I do remake everything what to do with my old models
Thanks for the help ^^

Skele-kitty In reply to PrincessStacie [2011-01-03 21:30:05 +0000 UTC]
Nah, I wouldn't bother remaking any of them, unless you really really want to - you have the photos, so they are essentially immortalized.
Glad to help.

the tail fire on the other one is better, I think. You must go through lots of cardstock. Apart from the tail fire, one of your best works yet.

Skele-kitty In reply to Oli-Gig [2011-01-02 22:33:59 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! The tail fire is the same as the orange one, I think you're just seeing the other side of it, that's all.
I do go through a bit of specialty paper - 120gsm is not quite thick enough to be considered cardstock - but it's worth it.
Actually, originally, the normal charizard was built at 40cm, which was rediculously big, and that was about 18 pages, plus I rebuilt the head 5 times, just to get it right, so yeah, lots of ink, paper and glue!

Oli-Gig In reply to Skele-kitty [2011-01-02 22:53:56 +0000 UTC]
40cm!? Could you post a pic of this charizard compared to the other?

Skele-kitty In reply to Oli-Gig [2011-01-03 00:03:57 +0000 UTC]
Sadly no, because the day after I photgraphed it for the PaperpokΓ©s post I dropped it and my glue bottle on top of it. So no it has gone to the papercraft farm in the sky.
