Another picture I did for fun and just generally to practise skin tone. I saw a piece a long time ago that inspired me to doodle this, and have been working on and off on it ever since - because I haven't been taking it seriously it's certainly taken me a long time.
Just a couple of fun facts - the woman's name is Phoenix, and the bird, though a phoenix itself, wasn't originally part of the sketch XD By way of bird-lovers, I modelled my phoenix on an osprey, but I know nothing about bird anatomy really! *apologises*

This really is gorgeous. I love phoenixes, and the colour orange, and they're both obviously here, and done really beautifully. The longest feather in the bird's tail reminds me of a peacock feather, which is nice. I also love all the little beads on strings around... Little details are great.
I have one question - What, exactly, is the thing on her head? It's really interesting and detailed, kind of futuristic; is it something in particular or just decoration?

I have a slight fascination, you might say, with headpieces. I made one a few years back and I still find myself drawing them more often than I probably should for the sake of variation

Aiya I can see the inspiration if I'm thinking of the right artist piece. Was it 'peace' by Brom by any chance? I have his darkwerks art book and this instantly reminded me of that piece. Anyway gorgeous work. I love the helmet and hair along with the gorgeous firey phoenix like robes. Lovely work on the actual phoenix too I love its tail. Awesome job ^__^

I'm not exactly sure just what it is about this piece that I really, really like, but I do.
The colouring is amazing. I love the reds/oranges/etc and how it contrasts so well with her pale skin. The combination makes both pop out nicely, complimenting rather than competing.
Her expression is so...tranquil and I love the bird. I don't know if the avian anatomy is correct either, but sometimes realism isn't necessary to get the effect that you're aiming for.

very beautifuls. i think the skin looks great. the phoenix too. yet i think when it gets near the bottom (from her waist down) i think it's kind of blurry. it might be my comp. yet i really like the colors and the girl and the phoenix. excellent job

The colors are so beautiful with their pearly, glaze look and the pheonix is adorable. The little strands of what I believe to be magic is a nice touch. You did a great job on that cloth, I'd love to own it.

This is beautiful.. so rarely do we see a moment of repose in art. This has a lot of echoes of the Renaissance to it, but is set apart by itself. I love it.
The bird itself is glorious in a fragile, shy way. Although the color is predominately red and orange, there are subtle hints of others which makes it a more tangible being in and of itself. It seems curious and shy, as one would expect a bird to be, but there is also a great connection between the two evidenced by their expressions.
And the girl - she's lovely. Her hair, her headpiece.. she is so detailed in the simpleness. Her eyes are striking in this piece, even though they are closed. That seems to say much more than anything. I like that she's somewhat casually nude, it lends a very transcedant air to it all. Like these are both creatures above the world of humans and they need not obey what we deem acceptable behaviour.

That has to be the smallest phoenix i have ever seen. They are usually represented as big sized birds. My compliments on the girl's headgear, neat design!
