I use mostly sculpey for my stuff it's a lot softer. There is also clay softener you can buy to help with fimo and other than that you just have to work it a lot. Body heat helps to soften it.

Your clay looks softer what type of clay are you using here. I've only used Fino and its so hard I literealy spend like an hour just to roll it into a ball so i stoped making stuff. I'd love to get back into it and I just wanted to find a softer clay

Do you think you could make a mini tutorial on HOW to roll that thick clunky mash into a skinny, long, bannana looking cane?

Great!! I just am kinda confused about the part where you give it 'a waist'

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

skookyspry In reply to mintybubbles [2011-04-02 01:07:42 +0000 UTC]

You give it a shape like an hour glass. Fat ends and a skinny middle. I hope that helps.

SamD2010 [2011-01-24 06:27:19 +0000 UTC]

if you bake it first, what do you cut it with?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

skookyspry In reply to SamD2010 [2011-01-24 15:43:58 +0000 UTC]

I cut it with an exacto knife while it's still hot so it's more pliable. If you don't want to bake it first I suggest putting it in the freezer for awhile and then cutting them with a really sharp knife.

Nanas made of clay :3 cute!!! but what type of clay is it?? I mean I work with clay, but I haven't heard of colored clay till now lol sorry if my question sounds kind of dumb

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

skookyspry In reply to XxDeadlyCursexX [2011-01-17 16:20:15 +0000 UTC]

It's polymer clay. It comes in many colours and you bake it in your regular oven. No questions are dumb.

hie i tried this method but failed at squeezing them and it turns off shape, any tips in doing it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

skookyspry In reply to kuroso [2009-10-04 00:37:54 +0000 UTC]

Make sure you give it a good dent in the middle and then just start to pull it. Once you get it more even start to roll it so you can get a nice round shape.

I hope this helps.

I was wondering, what are these canes for?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

skookyspry In reply to iiBunniie [2009-06-24 03:29:58 +0000 UTC]

Do you mean what could you use them for?

Well when you slice them you get individual little banana pieces that you can use in many different art projects. I use them to make mini fruit plates and all kinds of things.

Hope this answers your question.
