Description I probably shouldn't do this but here you go: a tutorial (video, I say, video tutorial) on how I make my flame glyphs for my wallpapers.

I've gotten so many requests on how I do that voodoo that I do so well.

I hope to see a lot more flames on dA after this.

thats awesome man. i figured it would be a little harder then that, but it actually looks quite simple. i should give it a shot! thanks a lot man. and keep up the good work. overall, your gallery has the highest percentage of deviations i like compared to anyone elses gallery. i wanna fave it all!

Thanks! I used the trial version of Camtasia(if I remember correctly...) - I ddn't buy it though...wasn't sure if I'd make another...

this is pure madness... then you can get into PS and use the font effect editor / filter to apply tons of interesting effects to it.. wow... i'm flabbergasted... a helluva lot easier than by hand.. rofl.. damn good work..

Exactly. I've submitted 5 fonts so far on dA as well. Feel free to use them at your leisure.

You can also rasterize the glyph to make it a shape and do other things.

awesome, yeah, i just saw those.. planning on d-loading them later when i get home from work

ahhh.. nice.. guess i'll have to break down and buy the font editor.. lol.. that's just too derned sweet to pass up.. i do graphic work for a local Silkscreener and this would help imensely with lots of shapes.. they are SOOO clean.... love em...

Well I downloaded Font Creator 5.5 today... it looks like it's just a trial version for now, but I have 30 days to try it out. Started working on some stuff today (Photoshop's pen tool was really painfull, so I searched it out and found a trial version for download) and so we'll see how it goes. The tut was great! It helped to get me started and maybe you'll see some flames from me (or at leat something created using the tut steps).

It is painful, isn't it? I really like Font Creator, but there needs to be plenty of RAM in the machine - otherwise it runs slow. I used a program called Softy for years - it may be a good place to start.

So it's a font huh??? Cool Beans. After looking at this you could probably do the same in Photoshop using vectors and creating a shape, but this looks way easier... too bad I don't have a font creator. Off to Photoshop I go to see what I can do.

Yep. The photoshop pen tool and I aren't talking anymore - it's an evil temptress with a black heart and no soul.

I used Softy for years, until my glyphs became way too complex - so I switched to Font Creator.

Try the ps pen tool - maybe it'll like you.

The pen tool and I are learning to get along... we'll see how it goes. I haven't done anything as complex as the flames, but only simple shapes that don't require a whole lot of effort...

No one was using the other 2 tutorials and I have only found a handful of people using the fonts - so I doubt that this one will be any different. Am I expecting to see a ton of flames now that I've done this?...no.

The only reason I make these flames is because it's the one thing I'm good at - and I like to share.

I hope to see a lot of flames-based wallpapers in the future...but I'm not holding my breath.

Hell id hope so..If they can get the font creator...you do make it look easy..but like you said , your good at it. Its awesome you shared that man. Thats what I was telling someone the other day...asked me why I do these and what i get out of it..I said ...I get nothing ..just like to share..thats all..they didn't understand that...I guess if I have to explain it to someone then they wouldn't understand anyway.
