One of the two sons of Optimus Prime and Elita-1, Sandstorm is probably the real "grump" of the family. He is often called a Mini-Con because of his size), and that really just makes him steam (actually, it's pretty funny when he gets mad.) Unfortunately, he was also one of the 3 Autobots (Highbrow, his brother, and himself) that was heavily damaged during an encounter with the cold-sparked Decepticon femme, Blitzwing. Highbrow was rebuilt on her right side, which was almost completely obliterated, Sandstorm's brother Hardhead had to be completely rebuilt and upgraded into Bulkhead, all procedures happily done by the beautiful Wheeljack. Unfortunately, Wheeljack only had older parts left when she was rebuilding Sandstorm, and even though he doesn't feel that bad, he still feels he got the short end of the stick upgrade-wise. His real goal in life is to please his father and commander any way possible. Unfortunately, the years have drastically narrowed Optimus's view (or so it seems on the outside.) This makes Sandstorm very upset, and often times hateful towards Optimus. All he wants is to feel loved and appreciated, like old times. However, his hope is starting to dwindle.

The under-appreciated and very comedic Sandstorm is baed off of the one and only Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist. I thought that good old Sandy needed a place in this series, and who better to base the little guy off of than, well...the little guy! Besides, I think it makes for an interesting transformation.
