Description
Mattepainting of a mythical scene. The house was the only plate provided by my lecturer then i just add in the rest. I did a rough sketch, check perspectives, do a B&W tonal test then add in the colour. After i am satisfy with it, i add in reference texture to add the realistic look. Had trouble with lighting since it is my weakest area.Related content

I thought I commented on this long ago, but apparently I never got it to go through. I very much enjoy this piece of work, especially the lighting. It sets a rather ethereal mood, the seclusion of the building adding an air of mystery. That little cove there with the bluish light is intriguing...
I was wondering if I would have your permission to put this on my laptop as the background, for that purpose only.

I'd love to live here. The coloring and shading gives the entire picture a warm, inviting tone. The details, from the windows to the dock, are exquisite. I also am greatly intrigued by the entrance to the cove there on the right, partially hidden by rocks - it lends an air of mystery and sanctuary to the overall piece.
I very much enjoy this picture - it offers a serenity each time I look at it!

excellent work. great use of color. you're palette choice was right on. lighting on the right is pretty strong but the detail on the left with the house and rocks help balance the whole piece. great job
