Reference sheet commission for *Foxchibi of Rayeir! I had immense fun while working on this, and I hope it shows.
Text was written by *Foxchibi with a few edits by moi, and the lovely human!Rayeir silhouette and the array were also done by *Foxchibi with a few slight tweaks (color) by me. :>
Originally finished 20120414 but waited to post it today, Monday, for the start of my work week. And before anyone asks, yes, there are many influences of Reign of Fire wyverns in this design. c:

How could a critter this big even get around?Β I'm no biologist or anything, but what little I do know tells me that a size to body ratio like this should render this guy almost immobile.Β He'd be as slow as a sauropod,Β unless he uses advanced air sacks all over his body to help him move.

This is where many people fail to take into consideration a few important factors:
1. The planet the character exists on may have a different gravitational pull.
2. The overall physics ruling the realm may present different characteristics (up may be down) as theorized in the multiverse theory in physics. This is the rule where 'magic' is often entertained with.
3. It's fantasy. People forget this all the time.

It's embarrassing that sometimes I don't think on things enough, or sometimes too much.Β And frankly I forget to even consider physics.Β I wonder if I'd really understand it, even.Β Science and I are the worst enemies. I'm just so damn literal minded sometimes.Β I limit myself too much with rules that are familiar because I don't understand certain things.Β

Rayeir reminds me alot of the male dragon from the movie Reign of Fire

His wing structure is a little off, but in all an absolutaly beautiful picture!

The wings are not off. The wing structure is based off of the Reign of Fire wyvern wing structure, which is exactly how the commissioner wanted it. :>

This is so beautiful. I love all of your anatomical details: the markings on the head and dorsal of the wings that flare up when he's angry, the perspective of him in flight, the long elegant wings and bird-like neck, etc. All of your drawings blow my mind and this one is no exception!
