Well, here it is. I hope it wasn't more trouble then it was worth. Lemme know if you find it useful, or if it was overly confusing.This is how I made the background in this: [link] manipulation.
As you can see by the sucky doodles (I swear I can draw MUCH better on paper with a pencil!) half way through, I started to loose interest. -coughs- Or maybe I just decided to treat you to my awesome skills. But I got it done!
Also, please excuse the grammar and spelling mistakes here and there, I may fix them. Someday.
I'd love to see any results people might get from this!

I'm going to try and pull this off in gimp, although I don't believe gimp has a sponge tool that you mentioned. Oh well I will attempt it all the same! Thanks Eagle!

I dunno if GIMP has the sponge tool or not. You could always select the grass with a selection tool and desaturate it that way, if you can do that on GIMP. I am so totally clueless when it comes to that program, I tried it once, and failed absolutely horribly.

'Twas very helpful all the same, and guess what? I pulled it off in GIMP! Though it's not as spiffeh as yours, and I didn't follow it exactly to the letter.

I apologise that it seems rather like I stole the concept of your latest manip, but I already had the whole theme planned. The horse was meant to be jumping off of a cliff, but I saw the background pic you'd used for the tut and thought it was too good to pass up.

Wow, certainly not bad for GIMP! Looks a lot better then the scary thing my friend and I tried to make on GIMP. But she might see the tutorial, retry it, and make somethin' purrty too. Who knows. ;^)

I might try and get two of the pre-written tutorials up today, they shouldn't be too hard to do since they're already made. One of those would be the eye.
Tablets are awesome, but I've seen people do amazing stuff with just the touch pad on a laptop. I think it was for a while.
