Hey! Anyone remember HOPE?! That comic series that I posted a cover and five character profiles before, then canceled to overhaul the story?!

(EDIT: Well, now it's called Rebirthtale!!!)

Welp, while the story is in its one hundredth rewrite, I decided to redesign the characters, to make the story and the word feel more like my own. I threw a few ideas around about what design aesthetic to go for, then this popped into my head, a design for Sam, my OC. (side note: the normal black shirt with white stripe is still Sam's base design. This is for HOPE only.) I'm currently working on Frisk. I have a pretty good idea of what I want the design to be, I'm just working on the colors. The ones I chose originally don't look good. After that, I'll probably do Chara, then work from there.

So, without giving any major story away, here's some info on them.
- Sam is a hybrid. This means they are half-human, half monster.
- They are physically female, but never really felt like a girl or a boy.
- They were born on the surface in April, 2036.
- At the time, monsters were still trapped underground. Sam's father was a monster with power over dreams and used dreams to visit humans and explore their memories of the surface. Eventually, he found and fell in love with Sam's mother. Monsters reproduce with magic. Through his powers, Sam's father's magic was able to reach Sam's mom, accidentally impregnating her.
- Sam was bullied on the surface for being different, although no one could have guessed their heritage.
- Sam entered the Underground in May of 2042 at the age of six. This was after Chara and the six human souls, but before Frisk, making Sam the eighth child to "fall".
- Their mother didn't feel like they could have a good life among humans, so she left them on Mt. Ebott and told them to find their father in the Underground. Sam has never really forgiven their mother for abandoning them.
- They were taken in by W. D. Gaster and his wife, Lucida, because Gaster wanted to study them, as a human-monster hybrid had not been seen for thousands of years.
- Although Sam never had a great relationship with Gaster or Lucida, they developed a close bond with their young sons, Sans and Papyrus.
- Sam also became close to Asgore, who became the closest thing Sam ever had to a father, since they never found their real one. They lived with him for their last year.
- In January of 2049, Sam disappeared. A puddle of magic matter and Willpower found in the True Lab was determined to be Sam's remains. That very same day, Gaster disappeared and was erased from memory. Sam's death has gone down as one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in the Underground, one that haunts Asgore and Sans to this day.
- Sam is twelve years old.
- Their soul is white, but they can change its color at will. When their soul's color changes, their eyes change with it.
