D: i do hate that people are so weirded out by them.. :C I also hate that nobody can seem to draw them right.. Have you noticed that cartoon bats have little hands and their wings are just flaps of skin..? :C if they're going to introduce kids to bats, would it really be so bad for them to have proper, functioning wings?

Yeah...I know...Quite misunderstood...
A lot of the animals I like are misunderstood...Bats, Wolves, Foxes, Snakes...And even cats, sometimes...It's really sad. I really don't like those stories and shows and such that make animals look bad...

I love bats. I love them so much. Ever since I was little, they were one of my favorite animals ever. One of my favorite books was of that one bat that tried to be a bird. Stelleluna? I think that's what it was called. I remember I mistook a bat for a frog once, though XD There's a good reason why! It fell out of a tree near a lake we were fishing at and it was swimming back toward the tree and I was all "Frog! Must catch... for no reason!" I grabbed it and it SCREAMED at me! XD For a second I thought holy shrieking frog batman! and then I realized I was an idiot. 
Oh wait... I'm rambling XD Anyway, this is real cute! I guess bats are hated because they are strange. Euh! A mammal that can actually fly? It MUST be evil! >:U If mammals were meant to fly than the awsomeness that is humans would be able to fly too

So true. Bats are such amazing, neat critters, but of course they get the centuries-old short end of the stick despite being harmless, and highly beneficial to nature (and us- the local bats are a GODSEND with these damn mosquitoes, I'm nagging my older brother to make a bathouse for these awesome little guys).
And this little guy is so cute, how can you NOT go out and spread the word? @@ (it'd help if I had money *facepaw*)

No worries! I have a positive view of bats myself! Even seen them in a nocturnal-house at a zoo... they're rather cute!
Also, in my favourite book series, the Tales of Redwall, there have been occassional appearances of bats living in a mountain cave... they've always been good guys and talk in whispering voices, echoing the last phrase of every sentence.
In one book, they helped a party of travellers after they went over a waterfall - near the end of another, they were invaded by vermin-types and were only to happy to help the pursuing good guys catch up with them!

One time when I was walking to work (a workplace that I left long ago. This was a shop in a shopping centre.) I saw a small little fuzzy thing lying by one of the doors out of sight from everyone else. On closer inspection it was a small bat. He might have fallen from his perch or hit the door in the night, though he was still alive. He looked a bit shaken though. I went to scoop him up with a cloth until he suddenly got up and flapped his way all up in and between two beams and out of sight. I think there were some bewildered looks from some passerbys. I thought he was a cute little critter.

I personally think bats are adorable! I feel so sorry for them whenever they get a bad wrap, just like wolves and bears, they're more scared of you in the end! Great picture with a great message!

I've seen many bats in Sydney, and all they do is sleep during the day. But since the gardens where they reside are closed at night, I won't know, but I do agree with you Kim on this matter. However the bats in Sydney are being culled because they damage native vegetation - this is an environmental and government matter, and I will NOT question authority on anything including animal culls.
But I believe this is a great picture.

But native vegetation is something too precious to be eaten...Perhaps our gardens could hire some keepers to bring fruit - they're flying foxes after all. That way we can save both the bats and the vegetation.

Yeah it's just like with Wolves, most people think they're just big scary beasts that go around attacking or killing people, when in reality they're the victims, though with Bats it's probably even worse for them, since they're very harmless! And barely even attack a human at all.
But yeah, this is a cute pic though, and I like the message it sends out to people. Nice work with it ^^

Your right, and I don't think wolves are scary, accually, I think they are adorable ^-^ They are my favorite animalβ₯ Oh, and even if bats do try to attack a human (Really doesn't happen at all....) When they bite you, there saliva has a numbing effect making the pain stop ^-^

Wolves also aren't even as aggressive as most people make out to be :/ though yes, they can be dangerous but only if they're threatened/provoked, of course! (even normal domestic dogs can be)

It's a shame really there are harmless when I was up in boston there was this little brown bat in the attice tring to get out when get close to it it looks so scared and harmless and that's what insiered me to make this.
I may end doing more with this.

Yeah they don't attack humans like savages >.> even Vampire bats don't, and they're tiny as anyway! I haven't seen a bat before too... only a few at a Zoo I think. But some bats are native to NZ, just very rarely seen in the wild.
