Well not from me as I fall into the category of people who just want to believe it's true despite the stat charts.

I don't know where it is set but that's a fair guess and it is definitely during his first return to service as his sandboxes are orange. Hodges probably based it from a photo but while I have looked into the engine's history i've not seen a match-if by chance you do though let me know

Thanks, I really like this face combined with Hodges's terrific painting of Truro-well worth the effort of carefully patching the double page spread Oh yes I saw, very different to any other depiction of the ol boyΒ Β Β

Thanks Due to a large gap missing between the two Annual pages it took me almost 3 days to carefully 'restore' to how Hodges painted it but i'm really happy seeing it all blown up and pristine. There are one or two others I might use for Awdryfication down the road but this is probably my favourite one of him I reckon-definitely amongst Hodges's finest at the very least.

"Hmm, so he says" (love Awdry's use of Gordon as the personification of all the doubters). Β
Lol as the recycle king I don't technically make any art, just follow the four P's of editing-patience, practice, persistence and patience!

One day Truro is bound to get that opportunity; and it'll be a good chance to really give his wheels a good stretch after being stuck inside the NRM for donkey's.

Aye true, hard to believe now that back then arrangements had to be made with the LNER to secure his preservation as the GWR higher ups were not willing to fork out, but still happily it all worked out in the end.

A oldie alright, and only one of the two remaining Swindon/Wolverhampton designed 4-4-0's. Yeah the 4-4-0's and Atlantics are my favorite wheel arrangements when it comes to British steam. A step up from the Victorian 2-4-0's, 0-4-2's and Single Wheeled engines.

Would the other one be the Bluebell's cosseted Dukedog? Seeing them quite late on in my later acquired GWR books i'm quite a fan of the GWR's Atlantic tender engines, shame they were phased out before any could be preserved but maybe (just maybe) an RTR model of them will be made one day for 00, as I love turn of the century designs over the later standards. Yeah I was a bit gutted I didn't see him at the NRM in November as he was at Didcot. I know he is not in service now unfortunately but I'm not 100% sure where is currently. Either way though Didcot is on my list to visit so I might see him if he's still there in static fashion....

Thanks and nice to hear I took me quite a while to repair this two page spread as I found that when I tried to marry up the scans of each page there was a larger gap along the annual's spine than I had realised,Β

i1340.photobucket.com/albums/o…

but I love this Edgar Hodges painting of Truro and had wanted to Awdryfy it for a while now. Some of my edits turn out a little disappointing but I'm quite pleased with this restoration resultΒ
