Description This is for using synthetic (fake or 'fun') fur.

Not so much "lengthening" as it is putting two piece together to make a BIGGER piece to work with. You can also do with with different colored furs to make stripes or patterns - which will be covered later.

- Have two pieces of fur of relative size with piles facing same direction. Take the piece you'll be having on the 'top' and comb the fur in the opposite direction. About an inch from the bottom hem of the fur backing (B), or however deep you feel is necessary from the edge, part the fur into a definitive 'valley' - trim off the fur nearest to the edge (B2). This is your new 'hem'.

Apply hot glue to the new 'hem'. This is where you'll attach the other piece of fur - fit it's leading edge snugly to the base of the top piece of fur's piling and press down to adhese them. You can either hot glue them or sew them together if you feel it's more sturdy.

Comb fur into correct pile direction.

Can't you just sew another piece of fur to lengthen it? It will be a lot cleaner and less noticable that way.

Great tutorial, though. I see this method being applied to attaching velcro, zippers.etcs, not lengthening fur.

You could, but this is just my way of doing it in some circumstances - an alternate, if you will. I've done the usual sewing stint where you have an inside seam. As for being "evident" it's surprisingly not.

Thanks for looking.
