Description
Hello peoples. This is a test from a game project that has long been in the design phase due to a large amount of work, at work... we recently decided to switch to sprites cause it was more fun for me to work in at home + I was burnt out working in 3D...
This is a technical animation - the colors aren't final but can be changed at will - the details aren't final cause I don't know how to make it REALLY pretty and there are still some shape inconsistencies that make him jitter. That being said it is the first cycle I have made in quite some time that I really liked
Which is unfortunate cause I took a freelance job FOR 3D work. It's part favor part pay day so I will be completely dead to the world for about 3 weeks. Dec 3 to Dec 21st - 5 scenes, each 5 minutes long on average, each with 16 characters... it isn't going to be reel worth animation but it is going toward a decent cause that'll hopefully have a positive effect on the people it reaches. And normally I don't say WHY I'm not here for 3 to 9 weeks, this time I felt like keeping you guys in a loop of some kind ^__^
Later and good luck in all your projects.

One of these days I'll get around to putting up a full 3D piece I can actually show And the project I did when I put up this sprite, that was a brutal job, burned me out for months.

Well, i suppose the more you upload the more used to video editing you'll become. And that way it gets easier and easier, and then WAM BAM you'll have awesome videos up everywhere, maybe start a youtube or vimeo thing?
Either way im excited for what you have next. Is the sprite project "Top secret" <_<

I won't start a youtube thing till I know what I would want to do on it
The sprite project isn't top secret, but its going to be in the making for a while.

this is a nice, smooth animation. you make it look quite simple. also, grind hard on those scenes! sounds like a good, rough time ahead for you

Thanks
And yeah, that grind is done. It was like having 2 full time jobs for 3 weeks, go to work, eat, work, come home eat work, 12 oclock, sleep, 6oclock wake up work, 9 oclock (930) get ready for work, work... you know the cycle ^__^ It was a valuable experience even if I can't share the animation I made because of it.

lol, shit no, it was a hard job wrought with crap. I did things I'll never do in my career again like, animate 12000 frames in a night on one character by reusing 900 frames over and over, to turn into 9000 frames and turn those 9000 frame into said 12000 frames (all in 3D). The end of this one was a complete burn out, I'm only now back into sketch mode where I can draw for fun again.
This one left me cold irritable and a little deader inside, not to be completely pessimistic, it could lead to happier jobs with that client, but for now, it just leads to naps.
*getting offa my soap box now*
Happy early New Year ^__^

^ what he said. I'm interested in doing work for games so I'd love to know what you used to make this and if there's anything you do to make it useable in-game.

I'm using Flipbook (digicel is the company that makes it) and it is really just a matter of getting the images together. You could make the images in MS Paint if you had an idea what you wanted to animate, make the individual images, and then look up sprite sheet maker or something like it, and you should find a method or a program (you probably have to pay for to be able to get a sprite sheet without a water mark)
I have an engineer who's going to get this ingame, I can only go as far as to make the pixelish style artwork, and he is going to figure out how to get it in game with whatever help I can give him. There's bound to be some editors that allow you to get it in game easier, like Unity, but I am not well versed on the tech side of sprites ^__^; I google a lot of things.
